| I fully sympathise Rogue-Trooper! My bloke is taking quite some time too. In most Of the "Victorian" reference I'm working from, the men seem to wear these fancy brocade waistcoats under their jackets. I'm trying to make one and found some quite suitable small print fabric, but the damn stuff frays so easily and is nearly impossible to machine sew on a 1/6 scale.
I think the eye-patch on your figure is a great touch.

| Hello LeStryge, maybe you could try making the waistcoat out of thin canvas or pvc ( fake leather), glue together then glue the fabric onto that. Save on the sewing _________________ “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” | |

Cheers Jay. Although I'm not sure about the eyepatch...I might make another one. LeStryge...do you have a pattern for the waistcoat ?? I've found one which I'm going to attempt to use. I can try to send it to you if you dont have one. _________________ NEW AND IMPROVED EXTENDED WORKSHOP COMING SOON

Finding/making the outfit is proving harder than I thought although I made a new eyepatch today.

| What an elaborate process, and skilled craftsmanship! Totally "scratch built," then! Brilliant! You could use the same technique to build a ship's wheel, then, by adding shorter pieces of skewer sticks to the outside of the rim. (The white haired fellow has a nautical look to him, as though he belongs behind the wheel of a sailing vessel.) Thank you for the info and the pics! Much appreciated! _________________ ... DAVE

That is indeed a good suggestion Reddragon. Trouble with the brocade is that the pieces which of necessity have to be small insist on fraying when you try to turn a seam. Maybe I should just hire your Mother? She seems to have the technique down pat. Your bloke has exactly the sort of look I'm aiming for. Part Edwardian, part Western. Fantastic effort on that covered cart!

I do have one which I made that seems OK, but if you have a professional one I'd be very grateful if you would pass it on to me. I'm thinking mine has to have a serious re-think. |

| I've got a few of those myself. Quite handy really. Have to say they are one HUGE pair of boots he's wearing, ....or are his ankles and feet just small?

| It's just that his ankles do look tiny going into the boots. A while ago I bought a whole job lot of boots on eBay thinking they would be very handy, but when they arrived they are all huge, and as most of my men are MAMs notorious for having tiny feet it turned out not to be such a great deal after all. Nothing worse than picking up your figure only to have his boots drop off! I think all VAM boots were made overly large and as most of us don't really bother putting socks on before the boots, they tend to fit on the extremely generous side. |
