PostSubject: Phil's Landrover   Thu Feb 14, 2013 8:59 pm

My new Landrover turned up today. This is what she looks like.

I am very happy with her. However some idiot has put parcel tape across the box. How can I remove it without doing too uch damage to the box?

Dal this is what my helicopter looks like even found the tail wing for her.

Great Landy Phil!!! Very nice looking helicopter too. Well done Dal! Not sure re the box but I'd do some practice trials with other boxes before I risked making it worse. Could you possibly use plaster remover? You can get it from chemists.

Phil , now that is one fine looking Landrover ! It's funny how we call all vehicles a she ? Have you named her too yet? lol.
It's a cracking vehicle & you are very fortunate to have the engine with it also. A great purchase . Laughing

Great Landy! I'd love one but am sticking to collecting uniforms at the moment. In relation to the tape, where I used to work before we had issues with a supplier taping over barcodes on boxes. We found that gently peeling back the tape with a scalpel and spraying a little aftershave or perfume helped. It was a tedious task but worked most of the time. In this case however I wold be a bit nervous about it.

Phil I know it sounds a little daft as a suggestion , but try your Mrs hairdryer on heat direct to the tape. It should heat the tape residue on the side that is stuck to the box. Heat it and peel slowly.
Worth a look to see if it'll work as heat causes the residue that sticks tape to become soft & moist again. Wheras right now it has dried to the box.

Many thanks for the comments on her.Even Cin didn't go too mad when she turned up so it must be a good purchase lol.
Thanks for the tips with regards to the tape but I am probably just going to leave the box for now as it is not in too bad a state

Nice Find!!!

Question: Where do you guys find all these Jems........ Is it local to UK or are they from over the pond? To see any vehicle from that era with BOX....... Is the grail to me...

Cheers

PS: As for the tape on the Box.... Sounds like whoever did it needs some M&M's ( multiple melon ( head ) shots )

A great vehicle and it garanties a lot of paying fun. Looks like you have one from the rarer last editions (the ones that came with the black inserts).

If you manage to get your hands on a black trunk insert, it will be complete.
