MAM head variations

During the vintage era, Action Man had many head variations with the combination of hair colors or the possibility of beards from 1971 onwards.

Thanks to the way the flocking was realized on each particular figure or the way the eyebrows were painted, VAM could even show many more facial expressions.

There were some other specific heads in the collection with the appearance of Tom Stone, Bulletman, Zargon and Intruder.

But the main variations can be sorted as Painted Head, Flocked Head and Eagle Eyes Head.



For sorting my MAM collection purposes, I needed to list the main MAM head types.

There have been really a lot of different heads as many are specific to one single outfit (shouting mouth, camo paint, moulded microphone, specific characters or one new Dr X each year,…).

So I sorted only the main heads variations and I thought to share it with you.



1993 Duke – flocked




1994 flocked (scar inside cheek)




1995 flocked and frown




1997 moulded hair with lock




2001 spiky moulded hair this particular one with a one day beard




2004 new moulded haircut




Do not hesitate to rectify and complete the list, even with the specific ones.
I have myself no MAM after 2004.

Those are nicely detailed dinosaurs! I have not seen those before! Small, but dangerous-looking!

That shouting head looks good , probably the best MAM head I have seen !
