Invasion from the East?

Hi,

Was reading a geyperman thread earlier and started thinking - always dangerous

Anyway, we all know about Geyperman, Action Team, Polistil, Tommy Gunn, Marx etc.

But I was wondering.....are there any action figures from the old soviet era eastern bloc countries?

A quick whizz around google has shown up some dolls for the girls and plastic soldiers and die cast vehicles (both military and civilian) for the boys - but I couldn't find any vintage action figures in any scale from Russia or any of the other associated states.

I'm guessing the answer to my question is "no, they didn't make any" - but does anyone know better?

Are you kidding? I mean, no way would any Russian/Soviet boys be allowed to play with dolls!

Even in WWII their girls played with tanks..

I don't think comrade Stalin would have thought much of dolls for boys but there is a toy Museum in Prague castle.



Two floors of toys from every era. After browsing through cases of dolls, tin plate, railways, etc I finally found what I was hoping for...some Action Man!





Hank was even there to greet me!

The cabinet wasn't a bad token effort to display some examples of Action Man but with 500+ Barbies in 5 or 6 cabinets. I did feel a sense of bias!

I'm probably wrong - or maybe only half right - but the Indian looks like a set from Brazil, Estrella I think. Note the GI Joe muscle body like a TOM Stone or Bullet Man.
The girl also looks familiar, but my dementia is kicking in and I can't remember.

Anyway, awesome photos.

I do wish they wouldn't display Joes, or photos of Joes fully naked.
Can't help it but I do find looking at them in that condition somewhat......"unnerving"? (If that's the correct word.)

It`s definitely a varied and interesting collection they have .

The deep sea diver suit has an AT sticker on it making it G. I. Joe Adventure Team and not Action Man.
