Kitbash: Royal Navy - Cold Weather Sailor Empty
PostSubject: Kitbash: Royal Navy - Cold Weather Sailor   Kitbash: Royal Navy - Cold Weather Sailor Icon_minitimeSun Mar 31, 2013 5:23 am

Always looking for an idea to expand my Royal Navy ranks, this is my latest kitbash, a Royal Navy Sailor dressed for duty in cold weather...

Kitbash: Royal Navy - Cold Weather Sailor IMG_9407

Starting piece for this 'bash was the idea of dyeing the AM Equipment Centre card Duffle Coat navy blue in colour instead of its usual green...

Kitbash: Royal Navy - Cold Weather Sailor IMG_9408

Very pleased with the dye job...

Kitbash: Royal Navy - Cold Weather Sailor IMG_9410

Cap is from an Ark Royal Sailor figure as are the pants and boots...

Kitbash: Royal Navy - Cold Weather Sailor IMG_9409

Sweater is from an Adventurer basic figure and the sextant is from the Polar Explorer set...

Pictured with another recent Royal Navy acquisition. A MAM uniform - the Naval Commander Uniform from the James Bond: YOu Only Live Twice set. I wish I had a dozen of those hats - the best piece of MAM kit I've seen.

Looks stunning as usual mate :-). Did you step the colour out of the duffle coat before you died it? If so what temp did you wash it on? And was it Dylon? Thanks Mark

I usually do bleach the colour out of fabrics before dyeing, but in this case I didn't as the fabric and fuzzy nap of the coat seemed too delicate, Just did a straight dye job and it came up a treat. Smile

And yes it was a Dylon hand dye.
