Shhhhhh Dan, you are amongst like minded friends.

Luckily I didnt pay to much for this German;



Ouch, not much I can do with this head. I knew he was all wrong, Hard right hand and stub of left gripper but I didn't spot the neck till he arrived here. Good job the rest of the lot was ok. Lesson learnt assume the worst and never over Bid!



One "new" head and 40th hard hands (or should I say slightly better Head?).






And he is nearly ready for business.
Then notice his lower right leg has been twisted and beyond simple repair, needs a new peg!


Looks like he has been in a fight with a dog...

So what happened to the original damaged head?


I went for Milliput in the end, I couldn't find a flesh coloured one so will have to paint the neck.

Here he is with a "NEW" Body awaiting the resin.




It is still work in progress stage, but I am happy so far.





Its the first time I have used this Milliput and I am very pleased with it.


Today, looking better but havent managed to match the paint for the skin tone. Its the first time I have tried to paint the hair and I am happy with it.
I am getting there;







I never managed to get a good match on the skin tone, but here is is finished for now.

Sometimes you just get lucky with your EBay purchases.


This one arrived from the bay for a Fiver, took a risk on the face but it paid off. A quick clean with my secret cleaner;




And he is nearly as good as new, with great flock and good clean body.




40th grippers on o/e pegs and 40th basic soldier kit.

Time to replace that split bum and squidgy hip balls with some decent Original VAM spares.

Before I had chance to snip the connector the thigh pin snapped it was under so much pressure !

You can see how much pressure is on the thigh pin on the other leg.


My remade neck connector (From large paper clip) just that bit longer to reduce the pressure on the whole elastic system.


The New homemade pin connected to the elastic.


Now if you are new to VAM rebuilds you need this cheap and helpful bent coat hanger to pull it all together.(Patent Pending).

I should point out that I have used a spare vam thigh as I could not find the spare thigh pins anywhere!

Just hook it all together and reconnect the neck post (only fiddly bit).




Ready for Action.

He is now very tight and ready for some serious poses.
Look no sticks holding him up.


Now what to do with the old hip balls......

Yes he really is standing/balancing unaided (on a wobbly table as well). No photo shop, Honest. Well worth the effort, he has just passed the medical to join the Sparklebudgie Army.

Totally brilliant, you have done some great repair work there, wish I knew what your secret face cleaner is though!! i've been using zit cream and still not come up as good as your fellas!!

Right, lets see what the PanOxyl10 aquagel can do then.

Happy with this one now the spot cream has removed the inky eyebrows.


Then with a quick touch up with Burnt umber acrylic paint.





Right I am happy with this one, going to leave the flock as is but have just noticed he has a painted rivet right elbow and two right forearms!

A very easy repair, he cost  £8 on a buy it now with free postage, remember they said the head was scrap. Shall I send them a picture of it now?

this is awesome ,not only are you saving guys your surgery gives them a new lease of life ,yes they may be battle scarred but they are still of value to their fighting units , will now be scouring ebay and the like for injured parties ,top tips and thank you,i wish I had your flocking skills

This was my first attempt at a repaint
He has been restrung and had the spot cream treatment. Experimented with the hair paint, not sure how I feel about the result

I know the hairline is wrong but never corrected it, helped him fit in here!







After the adding the 40th basics he is ready for action!
