Excellent kitmix Bri !!!

These photos have a cool retro 50's/60's kind of look, it might be the dampened/matt colour Very Happy

The detail on the equipment is really nice , the pistol holster has a weathered and antiqued look, cool. The Colt and the machine gun has some lovely detail, great use of backdrops too...  Most living room/lounges back in the 70's/80's had a photographic wallpaper on one wall, we had a mountain range scene, followed a few years later by a forest scene Smile

Thanks very much for the kind replies, men!

Here's a run-down on some of the parts:

Vintage Hard-Hand Sea Adventurer figure with reflock by Club Hair for G. I. Joe (Craig Blankenship)
Hasbro 40th Navy Uniform and Boots
Custom Sailor Cap by Mark Cole (I don't think he intended me to use the AT sticker this way, but I like it. )
30 Cal. MG, Web Belt, 1st Aid Pouch, Ammo Pouch, and Bayonet by Dragon
Lift-the-dot fasteners by CVI
Leather Holster, Ammo belts with Brass rounds by Battle Gear Toys
.45 Cal. Chrome Pistol by Twilight Magic Works

Clive, I remember years ago as a child, some restaurants had these wall sized photos of a mountain or something. Seems like they were somehow lighted too. I've used a lot of different things for backdrops. My brother has a hugh printer and has printed off some photos for me to use as backdrops. I've also used aquarium backgrounds and model railroad backgrounds.

Thanks!
Brian

Sounds great Bri, I look forward to seeing some more cheerscheerscheers

You jogged my memory about them being lighted... Spot lamps suspended from the ceiling was all the rage in the 70's. We had them all over the house. I used to entertain my girlfriends under them with different coloured bulbs, with red being my favourite Wink lol! Happy times were had in the 1970's Very Happy

Thanks, SJ7!!!

Clive! Yes, the ol' red mood lighting trick! Ah yes, the 70's, it's starting to come back to me now, lol! My parents kindly gave me a free hand with our basement. Of course the first thing was the HiFi system with large speaker cabinets and a beanbag chair strategically placed between them. I also painted the walls flat black and mounted flourescent posters and black lights! A little Jimi Hendrix Experience, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Black Sabbath...

Just catching this myself due to recent bumps.

Absolutely superior kit-bash there Gibri. cheers cheers

I'm a big fan of the Sea Adventurer and I think you've done fine job re-imagining such a classic figure whilst retaining the original ethos.

The flock job is very fine indeed. Photo back drop looks great too.

Here's my own 'Sea Adventurer' .
Actually it's a re-flocked {by me} Action Man in Walmart repro kit.
An OK job, but not nearly as good as the real thing.

Wonderful pics of sea adventurers, love that hat Gibri. What colour is that flock you have used Dreadnought? Is it on sale here in the UK? I have been looking for a while for ginger flock, yours looks closer to anything i have seen about over here.

Thanks for bumping it up, Kev, it was a fun 'bash to do. I got the figure from a friend and it had already been reflocked so I'm not sure who did it, but it does have a nice vintage SA color and style to it.

Really like the look of your SA and I also like that color flocking you used. Definitely makes it unique, but not as "unique" as the blaze orange flocking on the Walmart SA figure. Shocked That one was a definite candidate for reflocking.

Thanks Richard! That dixie cup cap was made by a friend Mark Cole/66noscar. He did a great job on it and it was sized to fit over a flocked head.

Hi guys thanks for the kind comments re my humble Sea Adventurer bash.

This is where I got my flock for this job from: restoredoll.com.

www.restoredoll.com/doll-flocking-gi-joe-size-dolls/

For the SA style colour, you need the Iron Rust shade.
You can blend it with blonde or darker flock too to get your desired shade, but I like it as is.  Very Happy

Shipping wasn't bad at all either to Europe by the by.
