What do you guys think of using the good old cardboard box for making Action Man things for example cutting it up to make furniture or just leaving it and making into some kind of building like I remember my dad making a prison cell so Action Man could put bad guys in it and I used it lot's and lot's when I was a kid.

Cardboard is a great cheap building material. I find that if I build things from cardboard, over time they become weakened, I use PVA or wood glue, painted directly onto it, it will go white but when it dries it is clear. Then it solids it up to paint or do whatever you want to do with it ! cheers

Nothing wrong with cardboard - I built a troop carrier for my son ages ago from cardboard boxes I got from work.  Only thing that cost me money was the glue as I already had some green paint from the fence in the back garden.

It did fall apart after a bit of rough play, so some sort of strengthening would be in order!

That pic brings back memories! I was always building carboard box 'Tanks' as a kid. I loved how they could take 'damage' lol! They'd get stabbed full of holes with a pencil when action man used armour piercing bullets, and ripped apart when he switched to the bazooka!
A cardboard tank's life expectancy was about 30 minutes but it was great fun while it lasted!

i still fondly remember a cardoard "pillbox" I made for my GI Joe back in 1966. It had a trapdoor entrance on top and a rope ladder.

Go cardboard! Can't beat it for price, imagination, buildings, backdrops, tanks, almost anything. And us
'kids' aren't the only ones using it...

... how about Hasbro:

cheers cheers cheers Go Cardboard!

That hit the nostalgia button, Alexander! As a kid, I would cut doors and windows into large cardboard boxes and they would be the barracks for our AMen!

The idea originally came from Blue Peter who also influenced me into nagging my Nan to knit me 1/6 jumpers and scarves and hats! (I was never keen on the knitted trousers!)

Cardboard good! lol!
