I am sure a fair few of us have come a VAM helicopter with broken landing gear. Well here is a quick repair I have.
I use a spair bunk bed pole as they are the perfect size and VAM of course.
The pole can be heated easily over a gas stove flame or something similar. Be careful not to heat it to much. Also have cold water nearby. Once heated it can be bent into shape.
Once you are happy with the shape it can be cut to size.
Once cut to size round the end off with a file.
When you are happy with the total shape its time to join it to the landing gear. I use an aluminuim rivet to use as reinforcement. I drill a hole down the centre of both the landing gear and the new piece.
Once you have it in the landing gear, I cut the rivet so its not so long. I try the new piece on first to make sure it looks okay.
Once happy with the fit apply some glue.
All looking good.
Time for some paint.
The paint not quite a perfect match but hard to tell once the helicopter is all together.
