PostSubject: Finally spotted him...   Tue Jan 14, 2014 1:19 am

I'm a big fan of old British war films and have been watching one after the other on Youtube. I'm also a fan of Patrick McGoohan, aka Drake, John Drake, Danger Man, The Prisoner.

While reading his bio on Wikipedia I read that he had a small unlisted part in the old film, Dambusters. I've watched the film a few times, and finally spotted him. He's the guard outside the door of the meeting room when they are getting their final briefing before the mission. I wasn't sure if it was him, but then he spoke a few words to the dog and I knew.

Kinda gave me a kick to see him and thought I'd share it in case any of you might be interested.

Thanks,
Brian

I love old war films too Brian. I watched the wild geese on you tube but couldn't find many full length films. Tell us what you found :-)

I'm a fan of old war movies too.  And Patrick McGoohan has long been a favourite actor of mine.  Actually, the 50th anniversary of the first time I ever saw him act is coming up.

On Sunday, February 9, 1964, he starred in a Disney production....

Immediately after The Wonderful World of Disney was The Ed Sullivan Show and the American premiere of...

Great stuff!!! Thanks for those links, Doug. Disney sure could fire the imagination and sense of adventure of a young boy, and who wasn't excited to see the Beatles(?). 1964 was a memorable year, for sure, and not just for Disney and the Beatles.  Wink

A couple years ago I discovered that there were feature length movies on youtube. Once you find one, you'll usually see several others listed along side. Only trouble is they come and go. Some of them seem to be always available, but others are taken down soon after they are posted either due to copyright problems or the poster just decides to remove them. Some are available here but not in the UK and vis-versa. If you keep your eyes open you can find them. Dambusters is one that disappeared after I watched it. Then a month or so later it was back. Same with The Cruel Sea, Dunkirk and others.

There are a lot of them that seem to be always available, One of our Aircraft is Missing, The Sea shall not Have Them, The Way Ahead, Colditz Story, We Dive at Dawn, etc. Too many to list. It's worth searching around.

Thanks,
Brian
