Hey barney_leadhead,
Very well done on giving these action men a a new lease of life Very Happy. Yes I can see that you really enjoyed working on these guys a lot just looking at the picture. Well let's hope the weather is drier and less windy 'summer' so we can see the outside photos that your take.

Thanks for the comments - glad you like them Cool

A portrait of three adventurers - 40th, 40th with re-flock and an all vintage BP EE which I have refurbished.
The chap on the left may be noticeable as the original barney-leadhead avatar only the pullover has been changed.

And the BP EE on his own... I really like him.

The camo AM look well kitted! Clear photos too! cheers

Having basic adventurers is essential to anyone's vam lineup. I think the blue staining on vam can be painted over with a careful blend of artists water based acrylic paints (2-3 very thin coats) make sure there's no harmful ethers in the paint. It might take a few goes to get the paint tone looking right in a mixing pallet (a clean teacup saucer), try painting on a unaffected part of the neck and let it dry for 5 mins to see if the tone maches, if not it can be wiped off with vigorous rubbing using a wet/course dishwashing cloth, then try again.

Thanks for the comments and tips guys Very Happy

Certainly the cammo team will be added to but I am having a slight hiatus at the moment whilst some extensive sorting out takes place.
As much of a bind as sorting is I have found a box of 9 more VAM heads which I'd kind of forgotten about but explains why I have so many headless bodies What a Face
I've also found a few boxed Dragon figures which I don't remember buying confused

Now I don't think that I've posted this on AMMO before but here is a photo taken in the mid-late 1970's of me and my sister.
More importantly I am holding my Red PH Action Man in his Stormtrooper outfit.

The photo is being held by a 40th replacement for the original although since this was taken I do have an original VAM Red PH and vintage Stormtrooper outfit so could recreate my original figure but the idea for the pic was how the 40th linked back to my own personal past.

My original figure came to me secondhand in the mid 1970's and the collection gradually grew over a few years but was gone by 1982 or 1983 I think.

Oh to have them back Neutral

This last couple of weeks has certainly seen more activity than it has in a while and I've refurbished quite a few guys and dressed them etc.
I was considering selling all my stuff a few months ago Crying or Very sad but changed my mind so now with all the bits I bought in the past I have what can be a free hobby for quite a while AND I am enjoying it again cheers

Fantastic Chris! I've just been reunited with my collection after three and a half years, just spending time going through it all myself.

I remember you saying you were thinking of selling up, glad to see you didn't cheers

Be good to see you at AM Day if you can make it!

Childhood vam photos are always something special to own, great back in the day photo!

I like the outdoor photos, those 'Ultimate Soldier' uniforms are the business, nice and thick fabric, also your vam restoration work looks nicely organized cheers

That's fabulous news that you've been more activity than you have in a while and that you've refurbished quite a few guys and dressed them etc. It's also fabulous news that you've chosen not to sell all your stuff a few months ago now that you've changed that mind of yours and with all the bits that you bought in the past you are putting together and clothing AND your enjoying it again, which has made me smile.

Richard, Dal, Ghost Recon, Buildadiorama, Gunner Munro, SKJ ,Clivvers, Ackie thanks for the replies and kind comments guys Very Happy

SKJ - I'll have to ask my sister if she still has that teddy.

Restrung two more tonight that I'd already cleaned the rivets etc. a while (years) back.
Going to need a session sorting out the clothes and accessories which are stored away in a box behind some other stuff as at this rate I'm going to have a dozen or more nekked guys that need kitting out!
