I was told there was only a limit run of the 'Action Judo Set', It was the last one in the shop, and well hidden away from public view at ML (back in 2010). Worth the price

Cracking set Clive. This did have a lower production and was initially an exclusive set only available if pre ordered, they even did a special promotional weekend when customers went to collect them. They did hold a few back tho that they sold in the shop.
Alan Hall had to put this box together from pictures and a partial box as he never had an original complete one to copy.

A very intresting bit of info, Richard. I was down ML nearly every week in Caterham, I managed to get a vam sailor's hat that was used to make copies for the 40th reproductions, it's now at home on one of my vams. I asked Allan back in 2010, if he was going to do a 50th range, and he said no

Same here Clive, after my first visit I was there almost on a weekly basis. We must have crossed paths a couple of times!

I also asked Alan a few times about further sets but he has always said he would not do it again. Not that he doesn't want to but Hasbro were hard work to deal with from what he told me.  Just before he stopped the 40th he was interested in producing very small production runs of figures and outfits  (200/300 of each if I remember rightly) making them a bit more expensive than the rest of the 40th range but making them almost to order by asking his hardcore customers what sets they wanted produced. My suggestions were a Tom Stone figure and the Secret Mission To Dragon Island set.
The only thing that stopped it happening was Hasbo's cut of the profits that they wanted. He had a final meeting with them to try and sort out a better deal but they wouldn't budge on what they wanted unfortunately.

That's a real pain.

Sounds just like what happened with Hostess and the Worker's Union.

Union: "Pay our workers more!"

Hostess: *Pays more*

Union: "Pay our workers even more!"

Hostess: "We can't rea-"

Union: "MORE!"

Hostess: "We can't afford to."

Union: "MORE!"

Hostess: "We're bankrupt."

Union: "What?"

Hostess: "We're bankrupt, everyone has to find a new job."

What a shame it happened, just think of those unique sets that could have been produced, Bullet Man, Mike Power and Tom Stone are just a few
