| Hi Jim, Indeed they did, the swines! This head was in a box full of old original stuff which was destined to be taken to the bin! My Brother was delivering to an old farm house while doing his job, when the door was opened, he noticed the box. He asked, "are those old Action men"?...the woman said "yes, they are for the bin".....so he asked if he could take them as his brother (namely me) collected them. There was quite a lot of stuff in the box, plus a complete hellicopter, with a small bit broken off one of the landing gear (not sure what the term is) Neil. |

  Oh no Joe with ear rings My first thought was maybe somebody did not want his head to come off so they put tiny screws through his ears into the neckpost to hold it on probably after watching that Action Man show that was on in December... My Action Man head ain't coming off in no windtunnel or while spirling toward earth after being thrown from a rocket...

| Excellent find! Jim is correct. The standard brunette Man of Action had blue eyes, the blonde astronaut had brown eyes. In the states, there was no such thing as a blonde MOA unless they accidentally put the wrong heads on. This did happen so for Christmas 1969 and 1970 there were the occasional blonde MOA and brunette astronaut. There are some brown-eyed MOA. In 1969 and very early 1970 Hasbro needed to get as many flocked figures as they could on the shelves. As a result, the first group of MOA were simply flocked PH figures. As Action soldiers had brown eyes, the MOA would also have brown eyes. Here you can see one of these, as well as compared to a standard MOA. The fact that his eyes have a pretty mediocre paint job might mean that he was a factory reject that was flocked to get merchandise on the shelves. I've been looking at eBay constantly since I posted this thread and can't believe I've found two more.
One is even the brown bearded figure I was looking for.
I'll post some pics when they arrive. Got a bit obsessed their so will calm down now and leave any I see in the future. | |
