I have so much enjoyed seeing the photos of all your collections that I've wanted to start my own thread for a long time.

First, I can't resist a little play on words. The Gib Picture: Gib being a shortened form of gibri and The Big Picture being one of my favorite shows as a kid. It was a very early documentary program about WWII with actual films from the battles.

I'll start with one of my first 'bashes. US Navy UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) figure:

This is an earlier version of the 'bash:

Thanks,

That's because he was probably the first man on the beach. The Navy Underwater Demolition Teams were the predecessors of SEALs; and both cleared obstacles and made the last reconnaissance before the landings. The Beach Battalions were in charge of clearing the beach obstacles and maintaining communication with the fleet (especially naval gunfire).

Excellent figure! Here's my Navy Beach Battalion figure.

Thanks Brian!

I need to take some more recent pics; he's wearing more updated gear now.

The helmet on my figure is Cotswold. They and DML had Beach Battalion figures; Cots also sold the pieces separately. The DML version was available through loose parts dealers.

Thanks Nate, I do have the DML figure, still in the parts bin. As so often happens, I did mine before DML's came out. The customizer's curse. Once you make it, one of the MFG's will soon release one. Twisted Evil

Thanks,
Brian

Thanks Nate (probably The Sixth Division) Wink , I've updated most of them to NewLine boots.

Here's my Wake Island Marine:

and updated with NewLine boots, Battlegear Toys holster and Cotswold helmet insignia:

Very nice looking early war Marine. The NLM boots are out of my price range. I splurged and bought a few pairs of the DiD ones. The rising prices helped lead me to vintage. Aside from Power Team, there are no budget friendly figures around!

Speaking of Marines, here are my 6th MARDIV group on Okinawa:

That's a misprint on my part,  unfortunately. Johnny Crash was DML's name for their PT Boat officer. He's the guy in a khaki uniformin Gibri's pics.

Thanks guys!

More excellent figures, Nate!

I know the NLM boots are a little steep in cost. They are also addictive. They even have that "new shoe" smell. Just like when you were a kid and got a pair of real leather shoes.

@blueboxier...

Well, maybe not exactly what you wanted, but...
