October 2016 Interview - ActionYankee Empty
PostSubject: October 2016 Interview - ActionYankee   October 2016 Interview - ActionYankee Icon_minitimeSun Oct 02, 2016 5:56 pm

Name?
Ian

Online name?
ActionYankee

Location?
North of Mexico, South of Canada

First Vam/Joe/Mam or 1/6 figure?

October 2016 Interview - ActionYankee S-l300

My very first Joe was one of these guys:
I was tired of my Major Chip Hazard toy from the movie Small Soldiers that would "blow up" by shooting out his arms and legs when you pushed his belt buckle. It hardly worked, and play value was limited. So one night, I made my dad drive me to Meijer (A department store), where he bought my first GI Joe. As I recall, he remarked that his shirt was molded on, I didn't care, he was cool, and I still own him now.
And my first Vintage-Style Joe was a Timeless Undercover Agent, and I still own him today. All his hair fell out, so I sent him away to get new hair.

What was your favourite figure as a kid, and do you still own him?
I don't know what my favorite childhood figure was, probably my Secret Agent (see above).

Favourite figure now?
Sean, my Action Man.

Most desired item?
Now that I have a Green 5-Star Jeep, I don't know, maybe a Space Capsule?

What will you do with your collection as you get older?
Cultivate it, feed it, take care of it.

What does your wife/girlfriend/partner think of your collection/hobby?
She uh, she says I can't buy anymore this year... Sad

Do you set yourself a budget?
I try not to spend over 50 dollars (US) on a single figure without there being something in addition (i.e. a 40th set is a figure, and something else) Though I did make an exception this year, which led to the response of the question immediately above...

Worst Vam/Joe/Mam or 1/6 figure?
Bulletman is just plain silly.

Views on 40th reproductions?
I prefer them! Nice and new, no stains or rips, all the pieces are there, nothing broken, etc.

Worst item of the Vam/Joe/Mam or 1/6 range?
I don't know, my hate for Bulletman is pretty flaming.

Best thing about collecting Vam/Joe/Mam or 1/6 figures?
They're so cool, and you can have a whole bunch, and have a nice little battle, or perhaps an adventure...
...endless possibilities.

Do you think your collection will be collectible in the future?
Probably not, unless it becomes famous by association Laughing

If you did not collect Vam/Joe/Mam what would you collect?
Filmmaking stuff.

What AM/Joe outfit or set would you like to have seen released?
I would have loved to see GI Joe get an Airborne Infantry set, instead of the Marine Paratrooper, which never saw combat in WWII.

Do you have a/What is your favourite section of AMMO?
The "Uniform of the Month" section is pretty cool.

Why do you like AMMO?
It's another grouping of like minded fellows, with a passion for action figures, not dolls, mind you. Some times it seems like the whole world is against us, so we have to stick together.

I've made one on UAMHQ. I'll put a link in when I'm out of work.

American Airborne Kitbash

The only problem is that I'm colorblind, so I thought the real Airborne uniform was green. APPARENTLY, it is a shade called OD #3, which is Khaki in civilian terms.

Though, I would like to make one using Cotswold stuff, (but it would cost me like $100 US), or I could make the Jacket and Pants myself..........

I just found this thread AY, since I'm a newer member.

Nice Jeep! I really need to work on mine. I had one as a child.
What I have now is no trailer and no gun, but I do have the spotlight.

And I totally agree, Bulletman was silly. I do like the Atomic Man, and
even the Intruders although many don't.

Great interview!
