Kitbash: PT Boat Captain and Crewman

One of my favourite GI Joe Classic Collection sets is the PT Boat Commander. Not only because it is a great Navy uniform never released in the vintage Action Sailor range, but because it comes with so many bits and pieces that allows some variations on the set.

Here is the original set...





My first kitbash was of a US Navy Captain in PT Boat uniform. The jacket, pants and shades are all from the PT Boat Commander set...



The belt, pistol, holster and boots are all standard Hasbro/Palitoy issue...



The t-shirt and the cap are by Cotswold...



Next up is a PT Boat crewman. The cap, shirt, pants and boots are all from the Action Sailor basic figure...



The life jacket is from the PT Boat Commander set...



The binoculars are from the Navy Attack set, the belt is from the GI Joe Timeless Action Sailor set and the t-shirt is by Cotswold...



Here are the two 'bashes displayed with two variations using the PT Boat Commander kit. The only change I have made is to replace the Classic Collection figures with 40th Joes...



The only PT set that I have yet to unbox is this John F Kennedy PT 109 figure...



I think these are really nice additions to my US Navy ranks.

Vintage sailor options were surely lacking for Vintage GI Joes and VAM. Very good looking crew.

I've thought about getting that PT set and putting it on a 40th Joe a few times myself.

Great bashes very nice crew indeed, I also bashed my PT boat Captain a bit back and gave mine a Vietnam twist

Great looking naval personnel! The only thing to mention is that is not a Navy Captain, but rather a Lieutenant. A Navy Captain is the equivalent to an Army or Marine Colonel.

Here's my PT Boat officer. He's an Ensign, what landlubbers call a 2LT.




Minor quibble that doesn't take anything away from your bashes!

Surely two bars on the cap indicates a Captain?  It's one bar for a lieutenant, isn't it?

Ah! I didn't realise that the two bars rank insignia in the Navy differed from two bars in the Army, Marines and Air Force.
