PostSubject: Unearthing the chaps   Wed Jul 08, 2015 11:07 am

So, now I'm on my own (no, we're not separating, but the wife and kids moved back to the UK for better schooling and an English upbringing for the kids, and I'm staying on in Dubai for a while for work), I have some free time..

Most of my collection got boxed up and shipped back to Blighty, but I kept a few things back. General odds and sods and a few unfinished figures.

I was up early this morning, so dug them out..

I fixed up Tommy, who broke his foot and rifle (grrrr) when my eldest played with him.

Sacrilege for the purists I know.. He's hardly Action Man apart from the vintage head.. BBI body by the way. I did a straight swap for the old BBI body, who's foot I'll fix another time..

Finished results look better..

Dug out the 8th Infantryman, and put his head back on.. Again BBI body. Still a lot to do with this one.

This scruffy looking, all vintage AM will be a Chindit.. Again. A ton to do here.

Can't remember what uniform maker this is.. Plastic pouches, but the kit is good. Again, a BBI body and VAM head. Work in progress..

And last but not least, my two childhood Eagle Eyes.. Not sure what to do with these old chaps, as I don't have that much Action Man clothing anymore..

The blonde was reflocked by Action Burt. The brunette is original.. Both their sets of eyeballs were knackered, so I tried repainting them years ago.. Not too happy with the of the quality of my workmanship here, so they will probably go for a repaint at some stage. Not the easiest though..

I've got a load of BBI figures, various clothes and odds and sods that I want to get shot of. I'll be posting them up in the for sale section over the weekend.

Cheers,

Nick

Wow Awesome job on the figures.

Loving the BBI/VAM approach too.

The WW1 Tommy is just magnificent.

Cheers guys.

Interesting about the eyes BAM.. How do you get them fitted in the head once it's cracked open though?

Bit beyond me I think.. Maybe Action Burt could sort it?

Nice body work customizing, Nick! They all look like good runners to me! I'm also liking the WW1 uniform, very nice! cheers

Dal,

Good work on those eyes! It's the way to go if vam Eagle Eyes are knackered,  40th EE's are also ideal replacements Wink

Great bashes they look good and regarding the eye repaint that's quite a good job you've done there Twisted Evil it can't have been the easiest job and with my shakey hands and bad eyesight I dread to think what my attempts will turn out like lol!

Cheers guys.

The head attachment is fairly easy.. The BBI bodies (they're a mix of 2.0 and 3.0) have a neck post, like this..

I then use a bit of hard foam, cut to shape and with a hole in the middle, like this..

The head then just pops snugly onto that..

It'll hold in place, but won't stand up to the rigors of child's play. But then none of out guys are made for that, are they?

Cheers,

Nick

And I figured out what to do with one of the Eagle Eyes..

As he's originally a Talking Commander (now sadly mute), I'll dress him as a Talking Commander.. Need to pick up a cap and scarf, and his green trousers are in the wash, but that's what he'll be.

And I thin I'll try to get him reflocked and give him some original eyeballs..

Who here on the forum is still doing it?

Cheers,

Nick

They all look great! The BBi G1 figure is about the same height as a Joe/VAM, so that's a great one to use.
