PostSubject: Loft finds!   Fri Nov 13, 2015 9:52 pm

As I might have mentioned already I'm building a VAM room in my loft Rolling Eyes . Clearing it of my childhood stuff means I've found things I haven't seen in years. I posted a few of the curiosities in my loft thread but felt further bits would be better in a thread of their own.

To help with identification of the archaeological items Cliff has called in world renown expert Dr Boffin, professor of toy antiquities at Coalville University.

Life was pretty tough for a VAM back in the day and there were a few casualties.

A few of SKJ's finest who unfortunately didn't survive to enjoy the pampered life our VAM now have. Amongst the VAM Dr Boffin has found an Action Buddy arm and Pedigree Captain Scarlet's foot!

Speaking of which, here's my childhood Cap's..er..Cap!

A few other goodies...

Marx 6inch figures.

Batman and Robin play pad.

Major Matt Mason.

Poopatroopers/Krazynauts.

Assorted badges. These came in boxes of breakfast cereal. I remember having five or six examples of every other Star Trek character before I finally got my holy grail..a Mr Spock!

A blow moulded Superman parachute figure.

Mark Strong/Big Jim scuba bits.

Mark Strong's paperwork.

I hope something here has stirred a childhood memory and the good professor will be back with more stuff soon! lol!

I hadn't thought about that Brian but you're right!! lol!

Dr Boffin's latest archaeological find is an artefact from NASA's Apollo moon rocket programme.

If you grew up in the 60's chances are your mum had one of these 'space age' inspired vacuum cleaners. A Hoover that hovered! lol!  They were the Dyson of their day. I remember using this as an alien 'Tank' that attacked my VAM in a game inspired by me watching the 1953 'War of the Worlds' movie.

Next up a couple of old vehicles and a garage.

These must have been my Dad or uncle's as they weren't mine and are pre-1960's.

Lucky you didn't feature as the bad guy in the Captain Scarlet series Steve, otherwise it would have had to be renamed as 'The Completely Destructible Captain Scarlet' and it would have become a non-story instantly... lol!

Professor Boffin thought he'd better do another update on the loft finds.

1st up is these alien spacemen.

Does anyone know anything about them? I can't remember not having them so I'd say they are from the mid 1960's. Blow-moulded figures about 4 inches tall. I remember had a few more in different poses.

A stackable totem pole section. Might be timpo but I half remember them coming from cereal packets.

A squeaky 1960's gonk!

Rrrumblers!! Between 1971 and 73 Hotwheels made a collection of motorbikes as part of their Redline series. My mates and me were Rrrumblers mad back then and since uncovering these childhood ones I've been on Ebay searching for more!

As luck would have it my 1st Ebay purchase was a 'Torque Chop'. After rescuing my childhood ones, which turns out to be in the best condition...my old Torque Chop! Look out for a thread about these very soon!

..and you thought my ginger haired Intruder was ugly!!

A Dapol Dalek.

Free gift dice from Esso or Texaco

A 'Dan Dare' space pistol. This came in a set with a red one. They used to fire spinning discs with such force I remember one shattering against the side board. I was only allowed to fire it outside after than!

Five polar bears? Why would a child want five polar bears?..Cos they're yetis of course!! Enthralled by the robot yetis on Dr Who, I built an army of polar bear 'stand-ins' to use as yetis against my airfix soldiers!
