PostSubject: Lieutenant General Omar N. Bradley   Sat Jan 16, 2016 3:46 am

Been reading a lot of books about the ETO the 4th Armored Division and the breakout at Normandy and got interested in a Bradley figure.

Here is the resin DML Bradley HS. I chickened out on trying to strip the paint and just painted over the existing paint ops. I was worried about it being too thick, losing detail or having it bleed through -- didn't have any of those problems. Gave it two coats of the base flesh color and it was just like working with a stripped head.

I didn't really notice it before, but these DML resin heads really are a lot crisper with much more detail than the regular DML heads.

DML CH DX Bradley HS
DML body
DML new hands from "Mickey"
DML tanker jacket from "Mickey"
DML helmet, repainted and dry brushed, stars removed and remounted
NLM wool uniform
NLM boots
BGT belt, compass pouch and holster

Thanks,

A very accurate looking figure! You've done a great paint job!

I've painted a few (understatement of the year!) 1/35th scale faces in my time so I can appreciate how difficult a 1/6th must be!

He looks great! I've been saying that I need to finish up my "history vs. Hollywood" George Patton scene; and your outstanding version of his friend/rival might just have given me the swift kick in the pants I need! Well done!

Thanks very much, Steve, I feel pretty good about it. I know there are modelers who do it so well I could never hope to match, but I think it's better than the factory job it came with.

Thanks Jim, three stars is the time period I was interested in for dios, so that works out. There is an almost identical photo of him on the web with three stars. In 1950 he earned his fifth.

Based on some input, I have done some more work on the figure. I added a little padding to the torso. Bradley wasn't a heavy man, but an older man, like it or not usually has a fuller figure than young men. I really appreciate the suggestion as it wasn't something I had thought of. I can barely see the difference, but I think it is there and any more would probably not have looked good. I also repainted the hands to better match the skin tone of the face. These are the later model hands from DML and the detail is quite good. Two sets came with the "Mickey" figure. I don't know which if any other figures had them.

Also decided to go all in on the jacket with the 12th Army Group shoulder patch and stars. Not sure how wise or accurate this is, but there's no going back now...

Thanks for looking, comments/critiques welcome.
