PostSubject: The SlackElastic CherileaLandRover Mongrel-Truck 'SEMT-44HQ'   Sun Aug 14, 2016 8:55 am

Heh All,

now as you do, I was always wanting a Mut's Nuts HQ truck that looked WWIIish but the cherilea truck just desn't have the look.

I know there was a couple of flat faced trucks but.... Evil or Very Mad

So with my dremel in hand..and with my latest beat up old Land Rover.... I've decided to do what should have need done a long...long...time....ago! affraid

This is what we're going for...

The resources...

The very complicated and highly automated design meeting....

I know what you're thinking.. 'that looks shockin'!' Evil or Very Mad  Embarassed  What a Face  Rolling Eyes

But.... hold on a minute....

Knowing how impossible using glue on that truck will be... here was the breakthrough... do that and the hardest work is done..

Test fit and line-up...

Now we're cookin'

Get busy with the axles...

getting pumped on the side profile shot!!! affraid  affraid

now that's not a million miles away from..

is it?  affraid  clown

So there you have it!! We are on our way to the SEMT-44 debut.. just need to tidy up side panels, sort out the rear...swap some wheels...get some accessories.. but that's not complicated on a flat sided truck.. Razz  Rolling Eyes

Now if anyone wants to have a go at making the The SlackElastic CherileaLandRover Mongrel-Truck 'SEMT-44HQ' here are the key points..

Cut the Landy straight down at the base of the A=Post
Cut the Cherilea straight up just inside the front face as shown in the photo..
Keep the top edge of the land Rover Bonnet hinge plate but turn it over and dremel off the middle mini seam so it will lie flat

the rest... I'm still woring out but in terms of a truck..the SEMT-44HQ is already looking good from where I'm standing...  Twisted Evil

More to come throughout the week as I get more busy innit!

Outstanding work slack! I am well impressed!

I see you mentioned the problem with gluing Cherilea plastic, in ammo chat, we have been discussing the effectiveness of 'BONDIC' or its cheaper Chinese version. So far, we have found it will glue all plastics tested so far. Jury is still out on Cherilea plastic, but I will keep you updated with any results Very Happy .
Another great way of filling un the gaps of your truck, is 2mm plasti-card. Really easy to work with and looks great too!

Looking forward to seeing more as this amazing project rumbles along Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

BTW - are you changing the wheels to All Terrain Vehicle wheels?

Keep me posted on the glue!  I'm staying with the landrover/trailer wheels... I gave you the Multi wheels I had affraid

I've got some glue from home base especially for plastics. ..but I'm hoping to minimise glue for strength..going with a wooden rail chassis to keep it straight...

Cheers for the positives Dal! Twisted Evil Always appreciated!

Not my intention old chap clown  but glad you like it!

Next ideas are to try and kit out the rear bed with the rest of the land rover bits, use the pursuit craft wing to fashion a 3/4 length hard top, canvas rig the rear 1/4 and then use the sides of the trailer and wheels to make the rear end look more vintage.

I'm even thinking of having a deck at the very rear to hang the motorbike on... I think it's going to become the VAM/Cherilea equivalent of the Gi Joe ATII... with seating for 6-8 affraid Twisted Evil

Apart from a bit of wood for the chassis strengthening it's going to be all VAM-Palitoy/Cherilea..(but i might even drop the wood if I can use the brace pieces from the pursuit craft instead!! Twisted Evil

Progress today.... lots of it!! Twisted Evil

I've decided I'm not going to paint it as I like the look but I will use accessories to soften the colour transitions etc.
I like the idea that you can see how it's all been put together although I will paint the front bumper!

more to come on this one... Momentum is full on!!

More to come with the rear wheels and side skirts from the trailer!! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil affraid

Excellent slack!, loving the way you have used the jeeps seats for the rear bed, also top marks on the use of the rear sides of the land rover for extra seating?, very clever indeed. Loving the rear roof and front bumper!, can't wait to see more bounce bounce bounce bounce
