Glad you took the time to listen to the tracks Jim, yeah they are a good live band to have a boozy knees up to, and a very loud live band to boot..

"England Belongs To Me" is a good Oi/punk track cheers

The pistols had some great guitar twanning going on in their tracks, but not as good as The Cockney Rejects fab Herbert tunes. I like the way they cut the snob audience scenes into Sid's video lol! Some PIL tracks are pretty good too.

LOL! @ Wolf's 'Frigging' track. I've still got a Guttersnipe fanzine in the loft with all my old cuttings from my youth, including gig tickets to various live music events. I sent my choice of weekly top 10 reggae tracks to the music paper 'Sounds' once, and they printed it in a issue the following week, I still have the music paper sealed in a bag, great times and sadly missed.

Oi Oi! punk!

It was so long ago that I can't remember in what order the tracks were, most of my labels were Pama which I think are miles better than the Trojan records. I can't get to the music paper right now (Sounds), it's in the loft and the ladders are in the shed, perhaps tomorrow I will nip up there, here's a rough guide of what I think I sent in:

1. Sherman - The Cats

2. Hold Down - The Kingstonians

3. Skinhead Train - Laurel Aitken

4. Do The Moon Hop - Derrick Morgan

5. A Night At The Hop - Derrick Morgan

6. Pussy Price - Max Romeo

7. Big Belly Horse - The Ethiopians

8. Big Seven - Judge Dread

9. The Burial Of Longshot - Prince Of Darkness

10. Monkey Man - Byron Lee

Back in the day I used to help my mates run a Reggae club in London's East End and also had my own DJ spot there. We also had Ska parties and followed plenty of the old time reggae ska singers, we used to get round some old time Jamacian ska singers house for weekend reggae parties, I shook hands with one of the Pioneers who was on our coach, we went on a live Ska cruise to France and back in 1985?. Those days were bliss! Very Happy

I used to see Nick about loads of times, a well know character and sadly now gone. I was a big fan of Sham 69 too, I still play the tracks. I got into Sham in 77 and went to that famous Last gig at the Rainbow Theatre in North London in 79, after the gig I had guitar shell shock and was half deaf for 3 days afterwards, it was chaos at the gig and all the way home on the trains lol!

999 is another fab band:

Definitely another great Buster tune, I was always banging that one out my disco deck speakers in my bedroom back in the day lol! I saw Prince Buster on stage at a 'Reggae Sunsplash' event at Crystal Palace football ground in about 1984?.

One of my all-time favourites has got to be Nicky Thomas's 'A Rainy Night In Georgia', me and my brothers were always skanking to the tune back in 1970, we used to play it over and over, Johnny Reggae was another poppy tune we also liked. My sister had loads of Trojan reggae records in 1970/71, she tailor made her own two tone skirt suit from a pattern on paper, it was made out of Trivera, she wore a white silk hankie in the breast pocket of the jacket, the girls used to wear Brut at my skool back then lol!

I'm glad it brought back some fond memories for you Beatlefan.

Indie Band Mania (British Sea Power),

Just recently I was lucky to find some unique music tracks via a BBC documentary, I found out via the end credits..

This first track starts out nice and slow, it's very haunting and kind of sad and lonely, it does open out into a real beaut so be patient as it really adds to the enjoyment of this masterpiece. I can imagine listening to it whilst watching the sun go down over the sea and drinking a few rounds of Ouzo and lemonade mix with ice. It kind of reminds me of Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick In The Wall'.. I think you will find it will evoke some distant memories and quite sad too, get out your best speakers and nudge up the volume, keep a hankie handy just in case it brings a tear to your eye though, remember to listen to each track separately in case the music overlaps each other and sounds a mess:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL_HmSQ1ALQ

The second track is another one that should evoke distant memories, it's intensely sweet and kind of patriotic, definitely another beautiful tune with great guitar and drumming, WOW!

Video version:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2n-7K0Ef6Y

HD version:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyYl9oELG-I

The third, another smashing tune that kind of has folk music overtones mixed in:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHUes0dGjUI

The fourth is quite cool, has some good rifting and a good Italian style tune ending:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf6yi0KsYHw

The Band 'British Sea Power' are now on my fave bands list, go check out what other tracks they have to offer, you may find your personal faves if you like this type of music, plus I hear they are amazing to watch live Very Happy

Mr C.
