PostSubject: Slack-Trak-Attack AT-II   Sat Feb 25, 2017 9:50 am

So I admit I do love to Track-Attack vehicles....

So having got a 'spare' ATII Shocked .. I revisited the Track-Monster with a generous donation of all the Scorpion Tank bits from Howler (Mark da Wolf Soldier Twisted Evil )

i had to rip out all the guts from the inside which housed all the motors for the roof spinny bits and found some groovy interior panels in the process which i grafted onto a redesigned rear hatch and interior bulk head.

so here is progress so far...

So grafted the rear hatch on to the slide-slider... put some bits from a VAM wreck on the roof

got two meccano motors to fit so popped in a battery pack in preparation.. (all the motors will do is whirr in a menacing way at the moment but I might thing of a use?)

and drilled out the side portals with a hole-cutter

saw the portal idea on a black custom on the net.. you can see the instrument panel mounted on the interior bulkhead Twisted Evil

the mounted rear tailgate creates a different look...

I'm going to remount all the brass switches into the interior instument panel.. which looks great on the bulkhead..

second instrument panel on new rear slider wrap-around panel

you get the idea of the new rear.. I removed the plastic stop on the slider so it can come almost all the way out.. which reveals the other portal window

I kept the card insert for the other control panel which I'll refit but I might add some flashing LEDs to spruce it up

Early shot of interior

Sorting out the wheels and tracks is quite a head scratcher... but this is the arrangement I came up with.. I had to exterior front mount the front axle.. any other arrangement meant that either the front vehicle would topple over or the tracks would sit too far back and the rear wouldn't be close enough to 'connect' .. it is a real faff.. but if the tracks and wheels look good then it's great.. if they look odd then it's affraid affraid

Front mounted axle

So this is the stage I'm at... colourwise I'm thinking 70s metallic gold, or black, or primer with light lacquer.. or who knows... Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil

Might be a while before paint as it needs to warm up for spraying innit! affraid

I have said it before, there are some clever boffins at Slack HQ, it must be all that bovril! or Captain Morgan's rum! lol! lol! lol! Either way mate, that is a class act! The tracks really do transfer the look of the vehicle. I also really like the re-working of the rear space! will there be a weapon rack in there?? or maybe a medi-bay? I shall look forward to seeing hwat you come up with Very Happy .
\i also really like the additions on the roof, will you be adding a roof-rack scratch . That vehicle will become the gem of your tracked vehicles my friend! top work bounce bounce bounce bounce

Thanks everyone for the positives... the colour choice is such a tricky one and the ideas of Artic, Space, Weaponised, (Dal secretly would like me to make it into a Pole Dance Bar with a weapon rack affraid )..

I have even thought about making it the Zargoniere Vehicle (which i do like the sound of.. Twisted Evil ) but also could be an Artic Response vehicle.. could have the explorers in there.. would be a great dio!!

Or I choose an overlap colour which I can do all the above with... Twisted Evil   .. I'm still tempted to go 70s Porsche Gold/Bronze.. I've already got the can...  but metallic paint could end up a nightmare with runs.. affraid

needs to be lighter inside other wise it will all get lost in the dark...

I guess I'll have to primer it and then choose a light colour... knowing it can always get repainted.. Rolling Eyes

'First-World problems' eh! rabbit

I'll keep you all posted and thanks again everyone for the comments and positives .. always appreciated! Twisted Evil

I wanna go Slack-trackin'...

I have to say I was a little dubious when you mentioned adding a front axle, but my first impression when seeing the pic was -- perfect!!! Looks excellent!!!

Well done, many positives!!!

I'm partial to the bronze age/Steampunken colors on vehicles you have done before, but I'm sure whatever you decide will be Hotslackin'

cheers cheers cheers
