PostSubject: My Weekend Flea-Market Find!   Tue Jun 06, 2017 10:35 am

I Always hear about people finding Awsome Deals on GIjOE's and other Action Figures and i've searched for Years finding little to nothing that I collect until this past weekend. I visited a local Flea-Market and there's this one guy that has a Toy Store that I always visit when i'm there. He's got Great Prices on most things and over the years i've bought a Model Kit here and a Hot Wheel there, but nothing really to Shout about until Now. It was this past Saturday and close to closing time when I wondered into his store and looking over the Action Figures when he struck up conversation with me and was trying to sell me on this Jim Morrison figure. I told him it was nice enough, just not my cup of tea. He asked me what I like to look for and I told him Vintage GIjOE's from the '60's & '70's mostly. He paused, turned his head in thought and said, Walk out here to my van a minute, I have a couple old GIjOE's. He opened the hatch on his van, opened a large plastic tote and showed me some type of Lion action figure that i'd never seen before, then a Big Jim, then a Butch Cavindish, then to my surprise, he pulls out an AT Land Adventurer! I briefly looked him over noticing the Body was like Brand New with No Stress Cracks or Melt Marks, but he did have some little issues with his hair.

So I asked how much did he want for him and he said he'd take $25.00 for him. I said, I'll Take Him for That. Then he dug around and pulled out this Painted Head Joe that looked Very Old and Dirty. His Head was so dirty, At First Glance, I thought it was a Black Adventurer. Then he pulled out a bag of loose Accessories. I could tell the P.H. Joe was Vintage by the Copy Right info. and the Rusty Painted Rivets. So I asked what he wanted for the P.H. and he said, well lets see here, it's Definitly and Old one, I don't know, but it Might be worth more. Well I guess i'll let you have him for $25.00 too if you want them Both. I said Gladly, I'll Take'em! Then he asked me if i'd give him $5.00 for the Loose Accessories and I said Sure, I'll take those too. So for $60 Bucks I Rescued Two More Joe's and gave them a Permanant Home! I had to give'em both a Bath Especially the P.H. and stitch up a couple of small holes I didn't notice before on the Adventurer's shirt. I also noticed both had Vintage String Kits in'em with No Rust! UNBELIEVABLE! Both are Nice and Tight and Hold Positions Well. I also noticed that the Camo. Pants have the Double Pockets on the back, i'm Not Sure if that's accurate with this figure or not. I'll have to Re-Flock the head and get the other missing pieces for him. I've got a pair of Black 40th. Boots on him, for now.

Now the P.H., i'll have to decide what will be the Proper Military Branch of Uniform to use for him, i'm thinking maybe the Army Soldier Uniform. And i'm Definitly gonna' Have to do a Re-Paint on him. He has a few Stress Cracks that'll have to be Repaired or those parts Replaced. I will also Sand and Re-Paint the Rivets.

Now this P.H. Joe was dressed in this two piece black Stretchy type outfit that's Untagged and seems a little Small for a GIjOE, maybe a Ken outfit? The Top is Factory Slit & Sewn on each side near the waist line. Does anyone know what this outfit is??

The Shoes are marked Hasbro Hong Kong.

Very good finds Rage,

You've done a good clean up job on the Painthead. Stress cracks are very common on PH's now, I wouldn't worry too much about them.

The modern Joe items are also very nice, those ammo clips are hard to find, so count that as a lucky find as well Smile

A couple of very nice Joes there at the right price and nice close up pics, the PH just needs some TLC and the Land Adventurer a quick trip to Flock Concepts... job done... Very Happy

The Joe bro-mance pic at the end was a little unnerving, but hey... we're all open minded here on AMMO... Wink

Looks good as new, well done on the restoration work. Don't let the figure get cold feet for too long, boots are needed Smile

Thanks guy's! I'm Quite Pleased with how it turned out. Very Happy Maybe I can pick up some boots in a Lot Deal or something. I've been in touch with Ray at Flock Concepts about re-flocking my Land Adventurer. Ray's one of the Best, I think. I've got to run over to Tullahoma today, so i'll pop in at the Flea Market and see if I can drum up some More Stuff! Twisted Evil

Very Happy Thanks Clivvers! Yea, I think it's Ray's Specialty to Match the Original Flocking Fibers. Personally I think His Mixes is the Best i've ever seen. Maybe even Better than Original! bounce

Ray is the best on this side of the pond. I've had several heads done by him. Can't find fault in his work. (although my last head came back smelling faintly of cigarettes scratch )

But the odor was gone shortly, and everything is back to business as usual. I'm thinking of having another project done by him before too long.
