PostSubject: Latest Flea Market Treasures   Tue Sep 12, 2017 7:17 pm

This past weekend I once again visited one of my favorite Flea Markets. The guy that I bought my last two Joe's from spotted me and showed me these. This guy's in his late 60's probably and he said his Best Friend had these Joe's and past them on to him many years ago. He was Pretty Persistant that I buy them, I guess he wanted to Make Sure that they had a Good Home. I had to pay a little more than I wanted to, but I don't think I got hurt to bad according to eBaY prices. I paid $75.00 for the lot. scratch

I've never seen one of these Tin Boxes before, it's dated 1998.

I've seen a few of these on eBaY before, but I don't know anything about it, it doesn't have any information on it. Looks like a Vintage Knock Off.

Here's a Talking Foreign Soldier with the Talking Unit missing. Whoever took it apart put the arms on the wrong side. I hope to get a plain Vintage body and put this head on it.

Here's a Fine example of a Red Painted Head Joe. I think i'm gonna' put a Marine Uniform on him and use the Army Uniform for my other Brown Painted Head Joe. Notice the Left Foot. Is that what they call a "Baby" Foot?

Tagged Uniform, Hasbro Rifle, Vintage GIjOE Hat, the rest appears to be Knock Off. Now begins the Clean Up and Restorations. Smile

I don't think you did too badly at all, for $75.

That is indeed what we call a baby foot.

The .30 Cal looks like it's Hasbro, Boots could be, refer to Vintage 3D Joes for more info: http://www.vintage3djoes.com/

Regarding the "Baby Feet," they were the first GI Joe feet, smaller, and less detailed. Usually on '64 first issue figures, and some '65 figures. They do also show up on some Canadian figures, I hear.

There was also slightly smaller, but thicker, less detailed hands, known as "Beefy Hands," which are subject to the same years and situation as the "baby feet."

Without being able to properly see the Copyright notice on his butt, I can't make an exact guess as to the age of the figure, but he looks like a hard head, which to me is indicative of a '65 or early '66 figure.

The talking fellow with the Euro head, is actually something we've been discussing over on HQ.

http://actionmanhq.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=27394&highlight=Talking

Something Hasbro typically did to move overstock of the European Headsculpt. But there also was a special set which was marketed as having the "TALKING FOREIGN SOLDIERS OF THE WORLD."

http://www.vintage3djoes.com/foreign-soldiers-talking-adventure-pack.html

I think being able to find a talking soldier voice box, and performing surgery would be an excellent move forward for that guy.

Because unless it's standard Joe elastic threaded through a hollow Talker torso, the arms and head are held on by different means, and putting the head on a standard body would involve removing the head from the neck post.

I can't do alot of research right now, I just lost my Sister 'N' Law today and for the next week it's gonna' be Crazy around here. Oh, in that last pic, the hand appears to be Hasbro, as does the silver grenade.

All the stuff in the 7th pic seems to be 3rd party. As does the footlocker thingy.

The tin itself makes me think of a collection of Christmas Tree Ornaments. EDIT: Just did some research, I think it's just a commemorative tin.
