Great post Rusty, thanks for sharing. When you look at the photos of how it is now, it all looks so peaceful and pretty. However, looks can be deceiving, especially when you think about the amount of lives lost there. I think these things should never be forgotten, and all the heroes alive or dead should be held with great respect. Great post cheers

Fantastic pics Dean. It looks to have been a great trip.

My grandad fought in the Normandy campaign. Luckily for him, he arrived fashionably late, landing on Gold beach a few days after D-day. He said the sheer scale of it all was awe inspiring and the fact that it all ran so relatively smoothly was nothing short of amazing.

Thanks for the comments guys.. was a great trip ...

I have been previously about 8 years ago , and it has changed ..quite a bit..
The pics i took in the machine gun post on Omaha beach (with the bullet holes in the concrete )
We're quite sobering ...sitting in there , I was thinking that, both the German defenders and the gi,s must have been terrified....

Lest we forget..

No doubt!

I was looking at how big Omaha beach is and wondering how they ever made it off the beach.

Couldn't help noticing that Army/Navy store. When i was a kid I was totally into the Army/Navy store.
