What motivates you to share your photos?

Just browsing the pages of a wargames forum and came across a thread there that i thought was very interesting, something i had never thought of myself.
The thread posed the question ... What motivates you to share your photos?  some of the answers were honest some very funny. these are examples of answers given .
(1)Totally ego based….  
(2) I crave the attention!  
(3)No one at home is interested or really gets my hobby.
(4) ….because if I showed them to my wife she'd just sigh?
(5)Very interesting question, my main reason is I am not part of a group, just a lone modeller/painter/collector and I like to socialise with a larger group by showing off my work, so I would say, to be part of a group with the same interest, rather than staying a loner and just looking at others posts.

I would love to know what the members here think and the reasons they share pictures, i think number 5 is a great answer although i have had the experience of answer 4 a few times. . Let's hear your honest views, it could make for a very interesting thread .

I think my reasons would be between questions 3 &4 but I also love looking at other people's collections and photos on general. I might change my answer tomorrow as I've just got back from the pub and picked up the iPad

My answer to your question is similar to the answers #3 & #4 you posted...

Nobody gets my hobby and my wife is not to thrilled about being asked to look
at Joe pics...

If I didn't share my pics on this and other forums I'd probably just explode!

This is a great thread!. I would have to agree with Brian, probably all of the above! No one at home gets my hobby, even though the wife collects boxed Barbies. I guess as they are boxed she doesn't get the thrilll of completing something?
I would have to say the main reason is just to share my stuff, humour and imagination with you guys! Plus, its always cool to show whatever new we have picked up and finished   with a great group of guys!

I think, for me, it's a bit of all five options:

(1) Everyone likes to blow their own trumpet now and again and show off what figures they're proud of.
(2) It's nice to read feedback from my pictures and posts.
(3) Only my son has shown interest in my hobby, and now he's a teenager he's lost interest, even though he's still got a couple of figures on a bedroom shelf.
(4) I stopped trying to impress my wife by showing her anything a long time ago! I'm sure she would sigh if I showed her what I've been doing or planning to do.
(5) I don't get out much and have a very small circle of friends, so it is nice to be part of a group that shares the same interests as me. I'd like to post more stuff but never seem to find the time or energy (due to illness) to start some kitbashes I'd like to do.

I really enjoy looking at other people's pics and threads, I think the reason I post my pics is for the interaction and opinions/comments from other members

1. I've never shown my MAM nation, probably never will

2. It's nice to share photos to motivate others..

3. We are all celebrating nostalgia in some form, so it bonds us all in a good way.

4. I enjoy pushing my photo editing to the limits manually with home made digital filters, I try to get small pocket cameras to take photos like big DSLR cameras can, a personal challenge for me.

I want to share my love of taking pictures of Action Men in brilliant locations with others.

Great answers all. I enjoy the taking pictures part of the hobby. Nothing like getting a good idea and putting it into pictures. We all enjoy the positive comments if we get any and that is what makes it all worth while. Have a great 2018 all and get them pictures taken

I enjoy making up scenarios for my action men and like to share what I have done with like minded people , and for others comments and suggestions..and everyone likes a “ well done “ for there efforts ..

I'm with Dean - its definitely a developing a bit of a story ,a bit of getting useful feedback and generating new ideas . I like a 'well done' and hopefully people enjoy the "VAM/MAM " world of the Munrovians

It's like seeing a flying saucer.......did it REALLY happen if no one else sees it too?

When Star Wars was released during my younger youth , many kids of my generation decided we wanted to become film-makers when we grew up. Magazines like Super-8 Film-maker, Cinefantastique, Starlog, and of course Famous Monsters of Filmland helped us believe that we could become the next George Lucas or Steven Spielberg.

Creating "cinematic" lighting schemes for miniature sets cobbled together from cardboard and styrofoam and posting the results online is probably the closest I'll ever come to achieving that dream.
