I suffered a stroke a few days ago. Woke up paralysed on the left side. Never known fear like it. Took me a long time to drag myself to the door to get help. Don`t know how long, but seemed like forever.
One of the other tenants called 999, and the Paramedics were there almost straight away. Straight to hospital and had a scan. I had a clot - a good thing, apparently, as they are easier to treat than a bleed- and I was put on a drip of strong anti-coagulant. What a miracle - I started getting feeling back in my arm and leg within minutes, and the left side of my face even quicker.
A follow up scan the next day showed there is some permanent damage, and I will probably never be 100%, but I must be in the high 90`s
The Paramedics and the Hospital Staff were absolute heroes - true angels all.
Back home now, and on medication for life. Get tired very quickly, walk with a slight limp, but this should improve as time goes on.
Not sleeping too well - keep waking up and wiggling my toes and fingers - counting my blessings, effectively.

Good to hear you got some quick treatment, it makes a big difference.

My brother had one a few years ago and one of my friends who was only in his early thirties had one a few years ago.

Wishing you well!

It`s taken a lot longer than I expected, but everything is now sorted, and I`m retiring to Spain on 20th November.

Physically, I have good days and bad days. Most of the time I`m pretty much OK, though I still tire quickly, and I have few more "senior moments" than before, but it could have been so much worse.
