Roger takes a quick trip out and about around Northwich..

As I mentioned Roger arrived during a busy work period ...

So I had an a couple of hours where I could dash around some key locations near Northwich where I live... here is a link to some more information...

My first attempt was to get from Manchester to Jodrell bank before closing .. Fail !!

Next to the bridge that had the very last engagement of the English civil war ?



or had one of the wonders of the industrial revolution ? - the Anderton Boat lift .

Northwich has a rich history based on salt - it also the birth place of Brunner Mond , who later formed  with other British chemical manufactuers in the 1920's to form ICI ...

Amazingly the factory is still working..as .. Brunner Mond.. but a huge swathe if it is now a huge housing estate !

Back to the salt... we do have a living history museum - the Lion Salt works..



Closed of course... but we managed a couple of sneaks..
