Just saw this movie. It was fun. Its pace/direction reminded me of I Am Number Four (2011). It also gave a considerable (and surprising) background to Max' father, ''Big Jim'' McGrath.

It is based on the 2013 reboot Max Steel, who reminded me a lot of DC Comics' Blue Beetle.
