Subject: Recarding Thread. Sun Mar 31, 2019 12:21 am
Good Afternoon Gentlemen. I'm just about to re-box several very rare 70's sets. I have found a similar white thread as was used but I fear it's too 'fluffy'.
I've considered dental floss but possibly too thin?
What's the 'norm' thread used for recarding? All idea's appreciated.

I'd steer clear of dental floss mate, it has a coating of some type of wax which could leave marks on your outfits or permanent staining.
I would go with basic sowing cotton.

Thanks Beatlefan, the dental floss is deffo a no-no. Standard cotton thread is too thin, best I get the darning thread out!

Would you be able to double up the cotton to make it twice the thickness or would it not thread through the needle?

It's for re-boxing plastic sections/pieces. Cotton would do the job on clothing. I'm planning on re-fitting 2 complete Space Explorers & a complete Go Kart into reproduction boxes. The Go Kart is all but done. Looking at original & 40th carded sets the thread used was a thicker material than cotton. Picky I know...but I like to be as accurate as possible!
