The Curse of Oak Island returns for a seventh season on The History Channel here in the States.

Seven years of a group of middle-aged guys digging big holes in the ground looking for buried pirate treasure; or in other words, the best show on television!

Somebody should make a show about a group of middle-aged guys who enact exciting adventures with 12-inch action figures. I'd watch that. Embarassed

That "Oak Island" caper has been going on literally for decades, has claimed several lives, soaked up millions of dollars and they still haven't found anything of any significant value. Zilch!

Anything that WAS there would surely now have been mulched up and destroyed by the VERY destructive methods used in the past.
I am FAR more impressed by the apparent ingenuity of its original construction than the highly destruction methods that have been employed to try to recover.........well what exactly? Question

Two-hundred twenty-five years and counting.

The most persuasive and thorough articles I have read make an almost airtight case that the "money pit" was a naturally occurring depression or sinkhole, and the "structures" discovered in the cove are from a well-documented fish-processing and salting station that was active from the mid-1700s.

Every find on the island... and the "finds" as such have been underwhelming at best... could easily be explained by the presence of the fishing operation and from settlement and farming that also began in the mid-1700s.

Nevertheless, the show, repetitive and monotonous though it may be, manages to hold my interest, probably because I read an article about Oak Island when I was a young kid and have been fascinated by the story ever since.

Dave that theory is probably THE only one that makes any sense, ....and yet people hold onto the fantasy.

Gee, we only got "Deadly Ernest" here!
Elvira was way better to look at!
Then there was that other weirdo with the wasp waist. She went by the name Vampira and also featured in "Plan Nine from Outer Space", which is something of an achievement in itself!

Last week I finally watched the last season of "Game of Thrones".
Have to say I found it a little disappointing after all that had gone before.
Some of the great characters were wasted really and deserved far better writing.
At times it was like they were really stretching the material to fit even the six episodes.
