| Just a question as a matter of interest. I noticed long ago that our ranks as shown beneath our names change from time to time. I'm currently a "Navy Frogman" for instance, but have been many other things. I was wondering if there is any pattern to this, or if there's a supreme rank one attains after a while and if so, what is it? Or does it just change randomly and eventually repeat? Is it tied to number of posts you make, or length of membership? Or anything at all? Just curious. |

| On other forums of which I am or have been a member, the rank is related to the number of posts.
Some forums allow users to edit their ranks. Other forums allow users to request custom ranks after reaching a certain number of posts.
Most forums of which I have been a member choose not to reveal the titles assigned at various tiers, preferring to let it be a fun surprise.
You already have 300 more posts than I have; so I guess I know what comes after 'Polar Explorer' now! _________________ ... DAVE

Or the fact that I should shut up every now and then? I seem to remember being a "Polar Explorer" a while back. I wonder if there's an "Ultimate", ....like maybe Field Marshal or Five Star General? I note Alex is listed as "moderator" and Dal as "admin" so maybe they are exempt? |

Forum moderators can usually make simple changes, like moving posts in to different categories, approving new members (if the forum requires such), or deleting spam posts. Administrators have access to the "back end" of the forum software, which allows them to make major changes like adding and subtracting categories. Admins are usually the "site owners" or partners in setting up the site. Admins are responsible for keeping the software up to date and making sure the domain name and hosting are paid for. _________________ ... DAVE

| Number of posts, I believe is the discerning factor. | |

Yes, I was beginning to suspect that's what it was! I see at this stage I'm still a "Navy Frogman". Wonder what the tripping number of posts is to cause a change of rank? 50? 100? |
