Like he'd just finished off his (spiked) tea and was wrapping up the evening with a cigar. In the new version the glass tumber... gin & tonic no doubt... is more visible on the side table, so that's an improvement. Nice that you were able to emulate the ambience of the original shot. I am rarely successful with re-shoots.
