People can ask whatever they want on e-bay, but it doesn't mean they will get it. I'm no authority on the going prices for these items mind-you, but one would have to be either very wealthy of very foolish to pay this kind of money for them, IMO.

Yes it’s true , you can ask what you like , but you must have some reasonable idea what things are worth .. He obviously dosent ..... but I’m sure there worth no where near what he is asking..
I frankly buy less and less on ebay unless the seller is in China or Asia somewhere and ships free or at very low cost. All the US guys are using the ebay standard shipping which is a giant rip-off. I don't know that they are smoking but they are not getting my business if they try to charge $25.00 shipping for a $15.00 item. Somehow, that company has completely lost it's way.
Then there are the clowns of course who think that a 40th anniversary replica of a 1964 figure is worth what a mint condition 1964 figure is worth....

As far as shipping from the States goes, the US Postal Service has raised International shipping rates to such a level that when I sell, I no longer offer International shipping other than through eBay Global Shipping. I had to do that after receiving several negative reviews... from Canadians... complaining about shipping costs and shipping time. I was losing money on the shipping, and the shipping delays were due to Canadian customs. Nevertheless, the buyers complained and left negative reviews.
By shipping using eBay Global Shipping, US sellers merely need to ship to the US distribution center at domestic postage rates, and shipping time is based on when the item reaches the distribution center, not when it reaches the customer. Using the eBay Global Shipping option protects the seller from receiving negative reviews from International buyers about shipping costs or shipping time. If you are even an occasional seller on eBay, you know that eBay has become very strict about negative reviews, and will lower the visibility of the items for sellers who receive even a few negatives.
As for outrageous Buy It Now prices... well, it never hurts to try, I suppose. Usually these items won't sell. Once in a while, though... well, I can speak from foolish personal experience. I have gone on to eBay a few times looking for a specific item, and when I found one, in my excitement I paid the asking price. Later searching then revealed the same item at a much lower price. So sometimes foolish, excited, or neophyte buyers will hit that Buy It Now button immediately rather than taking the time to comparison shop. Perhaps that is what sellers like the one pictured here are hoping for.
Also, some sellers simply do not do any research. In cleaning out the garage or attic, they find something "old" and assume it is therefore valuable. They list it on eBay for a high price that is based on nothing other than an unfounded opinion that "this is old so it must be worth a lot."
eBay is full of idiots, both buyers and sellers. I admit to having been one of those idiots, both as a buyer and as a seller. It takes some time to learn the ropes of eBay, and even then, I know myself that I still sometimes act impulsively (usually as a buyer) and do foolish things. I've also "given away" some pretty sweet deals to buyers over the years, usually when things get tight and I'm in need of quick cash.

Interesting what you say about shipping rates. I'm not in love with Canada Customs myself, but let's have a look at something I was considering for Princess Ivanka.

Well, the seller in this case is Black Ops Toys, I realized only after posting, and they have very high prices on everything. That's why I try to get everything I can from Monkey Depot, which has excellent prices and reasonable shipping.

I was somewhat tempted a few weeks ago to purchase that entire Red Army figure. Prices have since gone up. When I was looking it was around $150 USD. Now it's $180-$220 USD for the complete fig.
Lots of loose parts on eBay, but they ain't cheap. Almost all from sellers in China.

Monkey Depot had at least two (maybe more) loose yesterday, but by the time I logged onto the site, the only part I would have wanted; the jacket had been gobbled up by others. It would I think, with a little bit of modification, made an excellent Princess Ivanka jacket. I would have then combined that with either black or green riding breeches ( I have both colours) some tall boots, a pistol....and voila! Her Higness, Princess Ivanka!

I go to to the Monkey Depot site every night and try whenever I can to get there around the same time as they post the new loose stuff. It's never at exactly the same time two nights in a row however and the really cool stuff is the quickest to be snapped up. Doing this mind you, has made me spend a lot of money on clothing items and gear for which I as yet do not have a figure, though I have snapped up a few cool items also, including the two Tomoe Gozen heads I use for my two versions of Kamiko, some cool weapons and of late a couple of gas masks that I intend to use for either mutants or contaminated zone survivors or something like that. Their service is excellent and their prices far more reasonable than those of many other such places. Also, the shipping rates are not a rip-off.
I currently have four head sculpts for which I don't have bodies, though all of them did originally. The latest to lose her body was Miyori (TBLeague S24A) when I received a new Asian female head sculpt from Big Bad Toys that was a much better match for the skin tone, and much smaller than I thought it would be. So with a head swap, a bit of clothing change, this body is now Kamiko's teenage niece and sole surviving family member Michiko, which also existed in DAZ 3D (with a very different look) but which I had yet to create in 1/6th scale. The new combination is a very happy match. I took the opportunity today to try the head sculpt I previously used on the body (YM Toys Xiu) and tried it on several other bodies and found it went very well with all of them. I also tried another head sculpt that has yet to be mated to a body with the same bodies and was pleased with the result, so I ordered another S23B from Giantoy, which will be my second S23. I also have no less than 3 S22A's, making the S22/23 series the most numerous in my collection. I will likely order at least one more S23B for that other head sculpt and when combined, they'll become another of Erika's troopers. I also need order an S29B to replace the S28A I originally used for Gogo but am now using for Glynnis, and once I've done this, I will only have one head sculpt...the first one I got, without a body...
Geez this is an expensive hobby!

Tell me about it! I never expected to have more than three or four seamless figures. While chatting with BlondeActionMan and Professor Gangrene Fan a few days back, I started making a list of my seamless characters and figures, and counted... twenty-two! All had names and at least cursory backstories except for one... who then became my version of Princess Ivanka!
Also while counting them up, I realized I had one bodyless head who had selflessly donated her body to another character. Since she already has a character assigned, and since that character will be somewhat important when... or if... I ever get my story rolling again, I of course had to scrounge up the bucks to order a replacement body, an S27B.
This makes the S26A/S27B the most common body type among my figures.
I may need a few more shoes; otherwise, I hope I'm done equipping my seamless figs for now.
Yeah... right.

yeah...I find it's kind of weird at my age to collect dolls and give them all names like I was a 10-year-old girl or something. What's even more weird is that I don't care who knows about it. I had one of my female co-workers from the office over at my place a couple of weeks ago. I was giving her a bicycle I wasn't using. I showed her my collection named them all, explaining who they were. Then this very catholic lady who once wanted to become a nun asked me why all of them had so much cleavage showing. How to explain something like that to a nun wannabe?

Sometimes the "weird" factor leads me to question my interests. And I can't just say I'm an "action figure" collector, because I also have Monster High and Bratz and other "girly play-line dolls" in my collection. And I'm a member of a couple of doll, not action figure, forums (one of which is full of cool people like the AMMO forum, only they're mostly women). I've always liked toys, and when I got in to photography I began photographing them, and the confluence of the interests has kept my interest alive and growing.
Kimono Troop Command wrote:

I'm quite different in that regard. Only a very few of my In Real Life (IRL) friends and acquaintances are in the know. When I was working in previous jobs, I never shared my interests with co-workers. (Now I'm self-employed, so no problem there.) Any more, people are so quick to make "accusations" against people for... well, various things that it would be very easy to plausibly accuse an adult male doll collector of being or doing.
Plus, there are a lot of "otaku" types who are in to some of the action figures. I don't mean the sanitized western meaning of "otaku" as a "super-fan," but the original Japanese meaning of socially maladjusted and obsessive collectors. I try to avoid contact with those photo-streams online. I like the AMMO take on seamless figures - basically, pretty girl action figures. But I would not be confident that many people would differentiate between the types of collectors.

You need to add a figure like this to your crew:
(Guess what she's wearing under that demure robe!)
Say, we've completely derailed this topic, haven't we? But guess what? That's par for the course and kind of a running joke here on AMMO. Almost every topic gets derailed eventually.

There was one woman, not in my office but a FB friend I went to elementary school with and the first couple of years of high school--she lives in British Columbia-- who was taken aback by the photos of my figures when I posted some in one of my FB albums and found them sexist and disturbing and no matter what I pointed out...like these figures were dressed no more provocatively than young women you see walking down St-Catherine Street in Montreal during the summer, she just could not and would not understand. My co-workers at the office on the other hand, have known me for a long time know my eccentricities, but at the same time know I'm not a kook.
I also so use Mark Hogencamp's fabulous photos to explain why I got into this, which was never to collect action figures but shoot photos and tell stories I couldn't do with real models or real guns etc for about a million reasons, all of them have a "$" sign in front of them. They also know my sense of humor and see it in the photos I shoot. While I don't have the demons Mark Hogencamp has and do this for fun, I still see this as a form of creative expression. I'm also of the opinion that toys are meant to be played with (and loved,) and not merely collected and kept in boxes.
And you are correct...we have totally steered this thread off it's original heading.
