I have got a couple of MAM with eagle eyes that point in different directions. As they are the ones with better articulation I thought I would have a go at a repair.
Pulling the head off was easy.
I had planned to just pop on a spare head I had, but the dimensions for the neck post were different.
As getting the original head back on was tricky I thought I might as well try to fix it.
A sharp blade easily cuts the head in half along the seam.
This lets us get at the workings. As expected for a MAM there is not much sign of a brain.
The problem was one of the fragile axels had snapped off.
I did not think glue would be strong enough for a repair that was so hard to access so I drilled a small hole.
Then cut an old paper clip to insert as an axel.
I just bent this wire instead of gluing it as I wanted everything to be able to move freely.
Time to put everything back together, the eyeballs go in better if the head is wormed in hot water first.
I felt the head would be best attached to the body before gluing it back together.
Time to test everything to make shore it works.
He has the better articulation so he deserves one of the better uniforms.
Just need to get him out on patrol now.
