Tonka off-roading

One of the most popular toy lines in the late 70s and 80s (really from the 1960s to today) has been the mighty Tonka line. The construction vehicles are the bread and butter; but they’ve made some more adventure themed vehicles. From 1977-1987, Tonka made a Ford Bronco/Chevy Blazer Type truck called the Adventure Buggy. The black off-road version is the best known; and I’ve got two.

Looks like you have a perfect environment for adventure there, whether in 1/6 scale or full-size!

I have one of those too, but the naughty gals of K-Troop modified it a bit.

You have two with the decals in nice shape, cool!

I have one and the decals were so beat up I removed them.

I’m really liking the pictures of your two black off-road Adventure Buggy. They look like they can go on jungle or woodland adventures.

Great looking modification! Gay Toys/American Plastic toys made an all plastic KO of the Tonka called “Big Bronk”



In the 90s, they released a military version called the “First Strike Vehicle”

I'm planning more upgrades to the Tonka this summer.

Interesting KO's, I wasn't aware of the Big Bronk. Allan (Scottishactionman) recently posted the
First Strike vehicle as a recent pickup.

I don't think I've photographed my black Bronco, but I posted my Chevron Bronco about three years

Your Chevron Tonka looks great! They had a partnership with chevron in the early 1980s, and the chevron logo appeared on several Tonkas of various sizes.







The black off road and chevron versions are the best known, but others pop up now and again. The first strike vehicle came out in 1996, and was released in the new golden era of 1/6. Hasbro had released the Rhino GPV in 1993 (Action Man had a version too.)




You can see the similar arrangement in the First Strike Vehicle.



It came in tan as well.
