Excellent uniform!

I was thinking about what type of thread to use for replacing missing laces on those type of boots, and come up with the idea of using black sea fishing rod whipping.
It comes in different diameters and can be bought at all good Tackle shops.

Which would only serve to indicate the ignorance of the poster as evidenced by this photo of some Booties from 45 Cdo! The variation of beret shape and badge position is quite amazing even in such a small group! ;-)

Official dress standards call for the beret badge to be worn directly above the left eye however; some soldiers like to wear the badge slightly further around the left hand side of the head. This is a minor act rebellion and is very prominent in elite units like the paras, commandos and SAS. It's intended as a statement in elite units that the soldiers who wear their beret in such a fashion are "special" and that the normal rules of the basic army don't apply to them...

Was talking to an ex soldier friend of mine at the gym this morning and he said about the badge over the left eye but indicated that was a preference for some.Left up to me i would'nt have a clue.Thanks for the really nice comments fellas

Just read this thread, and what thestoryofactionman has written, is spot on, I know this as fact as I have friends and family in both the para's and Royal Marine Commando, including 4-5 commando, as well as the D Day dodgers

It is an act of rebellion and a cut above the standard Army etc etc
