I was in my local Modelzone earlier this afternoon. I bought some spray cans for a few more die cast vintage car restorations I'm doing.
Went to the til. As I was paying I asked the member of staff, 'Do you still stock 40th Anniversary Action Man sets?'
He turns around and points to a DRAGON Royal Marines figure and says, 'No, all they do is this now...'
'Thats not an Action Man', I say.
'Well thats all they do now...' He replies.
I'm stood there thinking, 'Whose 'they'?
I then try and explain but he's not listening. Nor understands the difference. He then asks me, 'When did you see them here?'
'Last time I saw them was a few years ago' and point to the exact aisle they were in...
'No, thats all they do now.' He replies.
At this point I could have slapped him. He was around 35 - 40 years old. Surely he knows the difference between Action Man and those modern, ugly Dragon 1/6 type dross???
'No. No. No. NO. Thats NOT an Action Man' I say AGAIN....it was at this point my transaction was complete (debit card, very slow machine which needs replacing since the day the store opened in my Town) and I bade him good day and left...
I'm amazed such people find employment...especially since the 'they' he was referring to seems to be the 'same company' that made Action Man...duh.
