Name ?
Paul , Nickname PJ
Online Name ?
Action Bob
Location ?
Borehamwood - Hertfordshire, (Originally from the East End)
First Vam/GI Joe/Mam or 1/6 Figure ?
My first Vam as a child was a Brown PH Soldier, with an array of gun's, handed to me by my brother, thats when the passion started for me! I think my Nephew still has him now!! First MAM was Duke, that's what got me started again so many years ago now, before I had a several year break from collecting!! Oh and my first Joe was also a MAM back in the early 90's he was Gung Ho, bought him in the States the day before my wedding, still have him now, but not the wife of then lol
Favourite Figure Now ?
I think this has got to be the Royal Marine 80's figure, just love the outfit, and you can add so much to him, like guns and accessories
Most Desired Item ?
Without question this for me has to be Bullet Man, always wanted one, but sadly there like rocking horse poo!!
What Will You Do With Your Collection As You Get Older ?
Just keep adding to it, lol, seriously though when the time is right more than likely pass it on to the next generation in my family, that's if a friend of mine don't grab it first
Do You Set Yourself A Budget ?
I like to think I do! infact I like to think the misses thinks I do!! but it don't always go to plan, always see something that I want, and it blows, what I put aside right out the water lol
Worst Vam/GI Joe/Mam or 1/6 Figure ?
For me never been a lover of the VAM Football series MAM's the moulded on outfits have never been a favourite of mine
Views Om 40th Reproductions ?
I came back to collecting Action Man, when this series was almost over, but when I saw it, my jaw almost dropped! and my wallet burst!!! It gave me the chance to get those bits and pieces that I had always wanted in the early day's, but was normally out of reach' Some Eagle Eye figures are a tad odd, they seem to be crossed eyed, well atleast the ones I have are lol I think what Alan Hall done, was really good, I managed to get outfits complete that normally I could only see online or in books, like the Colditz set for example Would of been nice if there were a few vehicles made, like the Go Cart, I had one as a kid and loved it, so yeah that would of been nice Some of the outfits probably won't last the 40 years like the VAM outfits, but hey I'm more than likely not to be collecting in another 40 years anyway lol All in all though, I really like the 40th, I think it's given everybody a chance to have that item, or figure they always wanted without having to pay hundreds for it. I especially like the 40th Marine Combat which I recently got, basic I know but it doe's look good
Worst Item Of The Vam/GI Joe/Mam or 1/6 Range ?
Don't really have any worst items, I have a few dislikes, like some of the MAM gun's way to big! life preserver jackets, on the VAM yet again to big for my liking, and even though I have a few of the indian VAM outfits, they just never look right to me! but honestly I just like looking at all in the 1/6th scale figures and stuff
Best Thing About Collecting Vam/GI Joe/Mam or 1/6 Figures ?
Phew million dollar question!! a few answers to this one I guess Trying to piece together those VAM's I had as a child growing up, means a lot to me, trying to get all the figures and outfits that my late father bought me as a kid, is a big part of my VAM collecting Seeing that finished figure, finally on display in my cabinet is just great Tracking down those odd bit's and pieces you need to complete the figure, and when you do, you know your just a short time away from having him on display And being able to share my interest with like minded people is also good, as not everyone understands the VAM collecting bug
Do You Think Your Collection Will Be Collectible In The Future ?
I would like think so, i have quite a few now in my collection, and especially as the price seems to be going up every year on VAM, MAM, and 1/6th figures, but of course I guess that would only be if the interest is still out there from collectors, but for me, my collection will always be collectible to me
If You Did Not Collect Vam/GI Joe/Mam or 1/6 Figures, Whet Would You Collect ?
Always liked WW2 deactivated guns, so if I had the money and room it would be the gun's
Why Do You Like AMMO ?
Right from the start it has been friendly, no Mick taking out of peoples collection's, no one saying "you got the wrong gun on that figure, you want to do this or do that" I think AMMO has got it right, I have been on several forums over the years, and this has been the first one I have ever posted anything on, as all the others seem to be "Know it all's" The guy's on AMMO have helped me out on so many occasions on outfits, items, info, and without dwelling on it, I have been housebound for the past several months, and this forum has been totally brilliant in keeping me sane It just has that helpful and friendly factor, and equally even have a laugh on it as well Plus you get to see some great displays of VAM's MAM's and 1/6th guy's on here Even the AM Day show's seem to have it right
