This Desert Patrol Jeep came in the mail today....As you can see it has been well played with and abused.. DP Jeep Arrives 007

I picked it up with the intentions of using the wind shield and selling the rest.I was told to be careful what you get because there were a few different shades of tan jeeps made...I opened the box,and shure as ship the jeep is Much lighter than my jeep.I only paid $20.00 for it...Upon furthur inspection,it looks like it may have been ridden on by a child....bent front axal.It has a broken front bumper... I was going to part it out but the more that I looked at the more that I felt bad for it and decided to keep her...With some spare parts,a ton of TLC,I think that I can get her to look half way decent....Walter DP Jeep Arrives 039

it was not abused except by the enemy it is a battle scarred veteran like the rest of us and i prefer that colour to the more pristine one anyway but that is just my opinion

Thanks fellas !! She is starting to clean up pretty good....I used some lacquer thinner to get the black paint off of the drivers seat....It did a good job without causing any damage...I found some plastic stock and started to fix the front bumper....Cheers Walter DP Jeep Arrives 005

More progress today...Started the tailgate....I used my Five Star tailgate as a pattern DP Jeep Arrives 004

]I ended up using 1/16" walnut dowel for the pin hinge...I ran it all away across the gate to stiffen it up DP Jeep Arrives 007

The Jeep was missing the driver side pin mount side of the hinge....stole one of my kitty's medicine syringes that was just the right size!! DP Jeep Arrives 024

Despite sanding and using 4500 pound five minute two part epoxy I went to finish sanding the front bumper and noticed that it did not adhere properly.....I may have not mixed it right.....So I bolted it to the frame.....Lets see it move now LOL......Walter DP Jeep Arrives 027

My Cotswold order came in a few weeks ago.The steering wheel set if pretty nice great deal for $10..And of coarse after placing the order...There were things that I should have ordered...Oh well...I'll place another next month....I was looking at the front bumper and decided to make up a front plate frame...I used 1MM X 3MM walnut plank...I think that it dresses it up looking much better...Walter DP Jeep Arrives Pic-11252013-018
