| The head sculpt that some VAM collectors refer to as a first issue is actually the 1965 issue hard noggin. This 1965 issue had no issues... Shrinking issues, that is. By 1965 they had found a suitable plastic that was harder than the first issue and didn't have the problems with shrinkage, and that was the standard issue head in late 1965/1966. Now the 1964 head sculpt had major issues. I have a whole spectrum of 1964 head sculpts: from the translucent softhead, right on through to the shrunken pinheads. Pinheads have shrunk so bad they are distorted -- and are pathetic. I've had a pinhead languishing naked in my spare figure box because I thought not much could be done because the head was so small. But then I had an idea -- I had a uniform helmet that an ordinary GI Joe would never fit... Here's my 1964 TM Pinhead G.I. Joe in an Ultimate Soldier Tanker uniform. I think he looks rather smart.

| A great way to save a 'presumed dead' figure! Is that heroic looking square Jaw a pinhead trait too? I've noticed it's a distinct 'look' amongst some early Joes. _________________ Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. | |

Absolutely! The pointed head pulls the rest of the face upward. Here's another Pinhead of mine that isn't quite as bad... | |

| Nice Tanker kit! I like the goggles. I think the superb Masterpiece heads would be an ideal replacement for the Pinheads. I wish Hasbro could be very decent, and release five fully painted Masterpiece heads in carded blister packs, including a grey hair, that would be so cool _________________ clivvers - saviour of the huMAM race @ MAMageddon 2009 - 2099 @ clivvers MAM Nation: | |
