restring help

No matter what I do I still end up doing a body twist any advice or does anyone do restrings on here

I restring my Vams I buy the elastic from a clothes alteration shop, I knock the pins in on the thighs using a drill bit the same size as the rivet, take out the old loop piece, use a electrical connection with a loop at the end push the elastic though the connection loop it back through the connection then crimp it nice and tight do the same to the other thigh, knock the pin or rivet back in the thigh again. Note sometimes it does damage the inner thigh when the rivet goes back in place but only slightly, Hook the neck hook back on and there you have a nice tight Vam again,

As wolf has kindly offered pictures its well worth having a go yourself mate as its a really useful thing to be able to do and as your collection grows you will need to do it more and more

A slightly different spin which saves drilling the rivets is to cut the new eyelets at the top and bend them so you have an off centre hook then hook it around the rivets.

I do the same as Andy by splitting a crimp rather than removing the thigh pin.
I use the same 4mm elastic that I use on BPPEE heads and make the elastic about 160mm long.

I have only done 4 or 5 but it worked okay.

Another way which I use is to sew the thigh connecting
Elastic into a small loop ( just above the metal connector) then
thread shock cord elastic (try a good outdoors/camping store for
The best quality cord) through the loops to form a bigger loop, if you
Have any gardening wire loop some around the middle of your connecting elastic
To use as a guide to pull the metal connector through the neck hole, then attach
Neck section!

My past restringing sessions involved a bed post and eye protection goggles

I do it much the same.

the length of the elastic can vary as to different strengths in different elastics used can vary so you may need to make it a little longer than I have used.

I do it like you have illustrated, your pictures show the process so much better than trying to describe it.
