September 2015 - Basic Soldier

Fantastic shots guys! It is fantastic to see so many basic soldiers! I agree with CA on his point about the badge, it makes sense to me.

Nice outfits Steve!

My Basic Soldier outfit (Blue beret) is still in a tub somewhere, It's been there for years.. I only have one of that outfit now and don't need anymore, It just needs a gentle pressing and is going on one of my PH's for old times sake, there's an old photo of me with one in my interview.

The Action Soldier uniform (blue beret) also looks good on painthead Action Man or G.I.JOE figures, the beret fits Paintheads much better than the realistic hair figures (flocked).

The early Tank Commander uniform shared the un-badged cloth beret with the basic soldier (although it was sometimes blue not green on the Tank Commander card). When Palitoy changed to rubber berets they added the Royal Tank Regiment badge to the Tank Commander beret and probably decided it made good production sense to just use it as a generic badge for the basic soldier beret too. Simples!

I don't have the uniform for Tom K as a basic soldier any more, but these 1st and 2nd edition are definitely the basic soldier for me...

Tom says that he doesn't want to be a basic soldier any more anyhow...

Tom is in total denial and is sure that he started life as a high ranking officer, or even something nearer the top...

Great thread and uploads. Really fab sewing the catalogue pages again. I spent hour after hour looking through my dad's Janet Frazer catalogue ticking the toys I wanted. I'm still waiting for my BMX
