| Name ? Danny Garrett
Online name ? Oldjoeguy
Location ? Irvine Kentucky, in the southeastern part of the state
First Vam/Joe/Mam or 1/6 figure ? First Joe was a Action Soldier , got it for Christmas in 1966.
What was your favorite figure as a kid, and do you still own him? Still own my first, he is the reason I started collecting. wanted to restore to original condition. I started looking around and found a whole new world of GI Joe collectors. So the addiction was started.
Favorite figure now ? The action soldier is still my favorite.
Most desired item ? Still looking for a pursuit plane
What will you do with your collection as you get older ? My children jokingly want me to take post-it notes and mark all the items with the price so they know what to sell it form. In reality, I have certain ones I want the grand kids to have and the others sold or given to other kids who want to start their own collections.
What does your wife/girlfriend/partner think of your collection/hobby? My wife supports my hobby and helps with many of my projects. She is always on the lookout for anything that could be used in a diorama or 1/6 scale. The grand kids give suggestions on my projects and helpful ideas.
Do you set yourself a budget ? My wife sets my budget. It has to pay for it’s self. Selling on Ebay,to other collectors or an occasional extra shift at work.
Worst Vam/Joe/Mam or 1/6 figure ? Have not found one I don’t like.
Views on 40th reproductions ? Not a real diehard for just collecting vintage, I try to keep the vintage and 40th separate but I use want I need to finish a figure or diorama.
Worst item of the Vam/Joe/Mam or 1/6 range ? Have not found a Vam/Joe/Mam figure I just done like.
Best thing about collecting Vam/Joe/Mam or 1/6 figures ? Have found a hobby that takes my mind off work and have meet a great group of people who also collect figures also
Do you think your collection will be collectible in the future ? As with any collectible it will increase and decrease as the demands dictate. But I feel the value will increase with time.
If you did not collect Vam/Joe/Mam what would you collect ? Have collected firearms and still do, but the cost has also gone over the top.,
What AM/Joe outfit or set would you like to have seen released? Still would like to see the old jeeps brought back.
Do you have a/What is your favorite section of AMMO? Like to monitor the sections concerning the motor pools.
Why do you like AMMO ? Give me a view into other collectors from another country and see new ideas. Thanks for inviting me to you site. | |
