| Here is another talker repair job I did over the christmas hols. This is what he looked like when he arrived. His talking mechanism was in a bad way. The audio tape had somehow been ripped off the spool, and I had to drill out the governor weights to get him talking at the correct speed. The leg elastic hook was broken off. Here he is all complete. I replaced the cord and gave him a 40th dog tag. I've got a few more awaiting repairs (including another two in a box somewhere). |

| Hi Chip (sorry for the delayed reply) unfortunately due to a lot of other hobbies/time commitments I won't be providing a repair service. |

| I've been tinkering again. This time I've repaired two of my 40th talkers. As you may already know the 40th talkers pull cord was very slow to retract and often doesn't retract at all. When I took one apart I discovered that if you remove one of its gears, it retracts much quicker. here's how I did it. After unscrewing the back of the torso I then removed the gear box cover. The gears come off easily (you will have to remove one gear to get to get at the one you want. Put the first gear back on again). Put the gear box cover back on and put him back together. putting him back together was the hardest part of the fix because there were so may wires to stuff back in. |

I can almost feel something about to shoot out and blind me! Great Resto job, the nearest I got to this was gutting the mechanism and cursing the whole endeavour ! The talker bodies without the mechanism are perfect for attaching Dragon arms If anybody's looking for an alternative use, the 2 sides of the Torso clamp perfectly Around the posts of the attachments, they have more posability and are great replacements. You'd be surprised how good they work! | |

| I also have a talker like this but like yours, the post that the legs attach to has broken off - how did you attach the legs when the post has snapped? I have tried drilling into what was left of the plastic and putting a metal rod in to attach the legs to, but it couldn't take the pressure from the elastic and just snapped off! Any help appreciated!
cheers

| Great Work Gary! I Wish I had your Skills. I tried to repair my talking AT Commander that was just talking a little Slow and Totally Wrecked It! Someday I need to find a Good Talking torso for him and just Replace it. The rest of the Joe is in Great Shape. |
