April 2016-DAK [ Desert Afrika Korps ]

I know some photos of peoples collections have been posted in the german soldier section but i think it deserves its own section

Here's mine - first up vintage mint off card






next up one of my childhood figures , not much of a uniform i know but this is how he was back in the day .
i never had this uniform as a kid , so the helmet must have been a swapsie .plus this is not his original head as the eyes had rubbed away making him look blind






next up some variations mostly vintage with added 40th bits .

Fantastic set of pictures Jet, I always liked the Dak uni. When i started collecting they were and still are expensive, I have three vintage examples almost complete that i put together bit by bit which was a lot cheaper, i was very lucky to get matching items and it was well worth the search. They all have the wrong boots and the brown goggles are mam painted up, i will sort them one day

Seeing as the German Stormtrooper was always a best seller it should have been obvious a variant like the DAK would be popular. Makes you wonder why they didn't try any more, like a snow trooper perhaps. It also makes you wonder why, seeing as they made the Royal Engineer variant of the British Tommy that they didn't do an 8th army Desert Rat!

Excellent DAK figures!!! I have a few from other makers, but these Action Man DAK figures are fantastic!

What is the story with the amber goggles? They look excellent!

You're right Steve , a desert Rat would have been an easy one to do , seeing as the had most of the uniform done for them with the LRDG .

Don't know really I just thought they looked more retro at the time.
Saying that I think the brown MAM ones look the part
