| I had GI Joes before the arrival of my first vintage-styled Joe. If I recall correctly, I got him for the same Christmas Dad got his 40th Action Sailor Frogman set. He became an instant favorite, and started an obsession. He got played with a lot. The "AT" symbol on his trench coat began to peel off, so I picked the rest of it off with a needle, and you can't even tell. The coat is missing half of one of the snaps, lost forever. He started to loose his hair, when I was pretty young. For at least a decade, he only had a little patch of hair on his forehead. The great Re-Flocker at Flock Concepts did a bang up job restoring him to his former glory. It's a great set, lots of play value, lots of memories. A mask? A bullet-proof vest? A brief case with a build-able rifle in it? How Cool!?!?!!!? I've tied my best "Half Windsor" tie knot on this great 1/6 tie, which has a snap in the back for ease of access. I was guilty of not liking this figure because of his hair, and I finally sent him away to get a new "do" so to speak, and I thank Ray immensely for doing such a great job on him, and on all the other figures I sent him in that batch, he's the best flocker in the states! | |

| I could do that, I even have some snaps already and could do it myself, but as you can see, the coat is held nicely closed by the belt. | |

| The playability is very high on that set. There should have been more spy sets in the Joe range.
That particular Joe head sculpt should have been used for the Action Man 50th flockies, they then just needed to alter the eye lid colour to brown and use the correct coloured flock. _________________ clivvers - saviour of the huMAM race @ MAMageddon 2009 - 2099 @ clivvers MAM Nation:

| And change the scar color.
To be honest, they should have used this sculpt for the Joe 40th.

To be honest, they should have used this sculpt for the Joe 40th. Yep, the scar colour and also the lips to a faded pale orange, it would be more vintage looking. I agree about this head sculpt 'should have been used for the Joe 40th range. My fave reissued Joe head sculpt is the Masterpiece one, it's fab. I think that head sculpt above is very very similar and could have possibly been produced from the same Masterpiece head molding tool. _________________ clivvers - saviour of the huMAM race @ MAMageddon 2009 - 2099 @ clivvers MAM Nation:

| I think it was too.
In terms of authenticity to the original, I think that the VAM40 sculpt is the closest of all the reproductions.

| Nice Agent, Ian!!! ...but where's his "AT" sticker? Every "undercover" agent needs his "AT" sticker...otherwise the enemy might not know who they're fighting against Sorry, I don't mean to make a mockery of the set. It is a very cool one and one of my favorites. Especially that take-down rifle! It is so Bond! I have a lot of those snaps if need some. I can't stand the things, they add bulk and you can always see them so I end up removing them and putting in a stitch or two to hold the pants/jacket/shirt together. | |

In terms of authenticity to the original, I think that the VAM40 sculpt is the closest of all the reproductions. The AM 40th head sculpts vary, i think all of them (bar the EE's) are modelled on a painthead. About five years ago i deflocked one of my 40th flockies and repainted the hair, eyes, scar and lips, it kind of looks like a hybrid AM/Joe/Geyper now, i think looks much better. The red haired ones are really good and don't need altering, they have a nice pale lip colour and scar, the heads are sort of gummy/soft too. I removed the bright red lip colour from my blonde paintheads and mixed up my own lip colour paint, they also look good without any lip colour, i used very fine wet 'n dry rubbing paper for this. My faves of the 40th's are the talker paintheads, they are really good and don't suffer leg spring back like the rest do. The Eagle Eye 40th's are also very good, although the skin colour is a little different than the originals, they are very nicely done. I haven't had my AM 40th's out for years, but there's an astronaut that's been hovering above my bed since i first got back into it all again in 2009. If it wasn't for the '40th Anniversary Action Man' range i wouldn't be here now. _________________ clivvers - saviour of the huMAM race @ MAMageddon 2009 - 2099 @ clivvers MAM Nation:

I've managed to get some English snaps, if I had a mind to replace them. And the sewing bit wouldn't work for me because I still very much play with my figures, so the uniforms are constantly on and off.
