Part 5.1 - Exercise hall stairs and landing!!

Mean while back on the parade ground N01 & AC , two of CH11 chat to the core surviving section of 14 Platoon.





N01:" So Corporal Muzio you survived the great battle of the Loft? "

CPL M: "Yes sir, The Dragonians attacked with out warning. We were lucky we we about to go out on manouvers as part of out annual training plan. But we lost half of the platoon, captured and stashed in cardboard boxes"

AC: "What happened to them Corporal Stark?"

CPL S " We fear the worse sir, probably sold or to debundlers ,de-elasticated, dismantled  and dispersed via the e-bay portal as Action man spare or repairs"

CPl M:"What do you know about the recruits sir?- Worthy of the Blue Berets?"

AC: "They have been watching training vid from UOAMHQ & Ammo-We are sure they can even match the standards of legendary Sean Stevens"

No1:" Yes, even  though they are one of the first batch of 'fixer uppers' Gunner 1.0 attempted - we are confident they can pull through."

Meanwhile out in No mans land ...

The Green team move  out of the kitchen and into the Hall. They move tactically toward their major objective- the stairs. A  mammoth task for VAM.



Lack of available cover in these areas means vigilance and speed are of the essence.

The team move tactically up each  step- working in pairs one covers while one moves. Its truly exhausting work.





Mark Power: My atomic arm is useless- and this gripper is perished - I'll have to get gunner onto it after all this is over. But I can't quit- I have to show Hank & Joe the Powers are worthy VAM !"



The final top step is the key one - here exhausted the team must keep their guard up.



Squad leader Henderson" Right guys our RV is with the Tan team in the bedroom to our right"
Nathan- you'll be tail end charlie- I'll lead lets go !"



Meanwhile the Tan team secure the RV. Luckily Gunner 1.0's house keeping standards were slack that day and an in-between bed change provide perfect VAM cover.



Using the cover of a chair - the Green team make their dash for the RV .

SQLeader Henderson " Stay switched on guys and remember your drills !"



Mark power gets a helping hand from Dave Henderson.
DH: Come on Mark - the Power name is at stake here!"



MP: " Thanks Dave - I won't let you down"



Mark helps up Nathan.
Nathan: "Cheers  Mark I hate being tail end charlie !"



The squad take up all round defence in the RV.




Alf turns to Dave
Alf " is this EndEx ??"
Dave :"I think so mate, we just need the call from McCloud & Fraser"
Alf:" Gor blimey Dave I couldn't half murder some Fish & Chips !- Where are they ?



To be continued -Is it EndEx ? Will they guys have passed their final test and achieve their coveted Blue Berets ? Will Mark re-habilitate the Power name ?

Gunner HQ has got to have one of the best troop training programmes around! Stairs are a killer for VAM. I remember Joe and Hank having trouble a few years ago..





..but they had only recently returned to active duty and so weren't 'fighting fit' then!


Beds are great for VAM too! I remember my yellow bed spread being a desert and my poor old Talking Commander having to endure sand storms and other assorted hazards as he crossed it!
