Marine Jungle Fighter Kitbash V1

The GI Joe Marine Jungle Fighter set is one of the most sought after and pricey uniform sets in the GI Joe line. Likely due to a short production run of just 2 years, and a uniquely colored set of fatigues (which tend to bleed color, never wash originals).

To my knowledge, the uniform has already been reproduced once, for the 1998 GI Joe Convention (shirt and trousers only), and will be fully reproduced for the 2017 GI Joe Convention.

I will likely not have this set, at least for a while. So, I've turned to the quick and easy solution of kitbashing.







This quick and temporary kitbash was done several months back, and has been disassembled.

The shirt and trousers are from a Dreams and Visions Sgt. Rock set (Breakout at Normandie). Most of the other equipment is from the Timeless Australian Jungle Fighter. The pistol belt is GIJCC Green Beret though. As opposed to the original, this kitbash has the holster and .45. But, my kitbash does not have the field telephone. Also, the Machete and sheath is merely draped over the belt, and hangs loose.


I will be attempting another, more permanent, kitbash of this uniform soon.

The 'GI Joe' and 'USMC' tags are reversed on this one for some reason too.

I think that would be James DeSimone's reproduction. I don't know much about him, but he seems to be a GI Joe historian of some repute, having authored a few books and guides on the subject, he could be compared to Alan Hall to a certain degree.

Those fatigues you've got there SKJ could be the ones that were available at the 1997 Convention. I don't know how involved the Club was with those, he may have just been selling them, there, and the Club, so inspired, turned around and released a "Masterpiece Edition" of the uniform in 1998.


They look a nice material.


I'm thinking of using some Joe40 Action Soldier fatigues for my permanent bash, I've got a set that looks nice, and they are, while not the same, an equally ridiculous color.

My kitbash features a 100% Vintage GI Joe. Should be from 1965 or thereabouts.
