Clean-Up And Restoration Of My Aquirred 5 Star Jeep

I got this for a Great Price from a fellow Collector at the "Not So Friendly" Other Site. I was Excited to get it because I never Had One before and was Anxious to Tear Into it! Here's some pix. of it as I received it.:

















Here's some Pix. of it After a Good Cleaning and a little TLC. I had to properly Re-Locate the Wires, Clean Contacts, Replaced the Spotlight Bulb and Spotlight Wire Ends.














The Spotlight doesn't shine as Bright as it Looks in the picture, but it does Shine Pretty Good. Here's some Pix. of some Parts and Extras that were donated by a Fellow Collector. I think it was the oldjoeguy which is a Member here, but I haven't got a response from him yet.










I've recently aquirred a Jeep Trailer that i've posted pix. of in the Motor Pool area and i'll be posting Pix. Real Soon of'em Both Together with some of My Joe's!

Thanks Guy's! It's still a work In Progress, I still have quite a few pieces missing. But, it's part of the Hobby I Love. I Still don't know the origin of the Crates, they were donated to me and he never did tell me if he Made'em or Where they Came From.

Nice looking jeep! Looks better now it's all cleaned up and ready to roll. Will you be filling the bullet hole in the back of the passenger seat or keeping it as a reminder of the battles it's been through?

In with the bag of "Goodies" that was so Kindly Donated to me was a couple of Rifle Supports that fits on the back of the Passenger Seat. I painted it o.d. green to match the Jeep and glued it in place and it looks Great! I've got a Flag & Pole on the way and a couple of Tailgate Reflectors for my Trailer. I figured i'd wait and add those and take some updated Pix.

Fantastic restoration job, looks great!

I received my Next Part for my 5 Star Jeep yesterday from ebay, the Replacement American Flag and Pole. I'll start with the Un-Packedging so I can "Share" the Experience with you.






As you can see, it was Packed Very Well.












Introducing my Vintage GIjOE AT Talking Man Of Action Soldier and my 40th. Anniversary GIjOE (M.P.) Action Soldier. It was they're detail to set up the Jeep & Trailer for this photo update. As I was getting my 40th. Joe in position, I was bending his legs at the knee and I Felt and Heard a **SNAP**!! If you'll look closely at his Right Leg in the pix., you can see it's Floppy Lookin'. I decided to go ahead and Finish the photo shoot before I examined him.

It's those D*** Cheap A** Clear Joint Connectors that Hasbro put in all of the 40th. Anniv. GIjOE's!  I've read in other forums where people were Complaining about these too. I don't know if they're in the 40th. A.M. or not, but if so they're Very Fragile. I was using this 40th. Joe for a different Photo Op. last year and I had him standing on the table and he Fell Over Breaking the Joint to his Left Elbow.  Luckily, I have some Vintage parts and was able to Replace it.




Looks like This guy is gonna' be in Surgery for awhile.  "MEDIC, GET THAT STRETCHER OVER HERE!!"

The jeep looks stunning mate! top work all round. Your two Joe's are very hard workers indeed! (unlike some of the lazy buggers at BAM HQ! ).

Such a shame that one of the Joe's suffered an injury during the photo shoot, but nothing a new limb wouldn't sort. He will be back in action in no time

Thanks Blondeactionman, yea, i'll get him Patched Up and He'll be BETTER Than he was Before. I was thinking about maybe using some Graphite Powder to lube his joints so just "MAYBE" this Won't Happen Again.

                                                Here's an Update on my 40th. Joe that was injured in my last photo shoot. He was in surgery for about an hour total, I removed the Rivet and Broken Post from his leg. Then I removed a Rivet & Post from a Vintage leg and installed it. I had to Drill Out the Broken Post that was still in his calf. When I attached the calf to the thigh, it was Pretty Loose after all that Drilling. I started to Super Glue it back on, but thought Better of it just in case I had to Replace it Again.  So I took some Teflon Tape and wrapped the Leg Stud until It Fit Snug enough. On his Lower Joints I carefully Tapped In some Powdered Graphite and worked the joints Back & Forth several times to loosen'em up. Which Worked Fine except the excess Graphite fell out onto his Skin and made it Dirty lookin'.  At this point I was Constantly wiping him down, so I decided for the Upper Joints, I would use some Penetrating Lubricant spray (like WD-40).
                                              Again, as I sprayed each joint, I would Carefully work the joint Back & Forth and Wipe Off any excess. At least the Spray Lubricant Didn't leave him Dirty Lookin'. I'm taking a Break for now and later on i'll Touch Up the Un-Painted rivits.











I suggest if you have some 40th. Figures or Figures that haven't been Handled in a Long Time and seems kinda' Stiff to be Lubed first before Handling them a lot. This Could Save You A Lot of Grief.

Here's an "Update" on my Jeep Trailer and my "Repaired" 40th. Joe. First we have a Before & After Pic. of my Trailer Tailgate, Before I added the Reflectors and After I Installed them.






Now I need to get some more of those Red Vinyl Decals for it.
